Beat the Winter Blues - Weekend edition

Cathlete
Hi all, I hope everyone's having a good weekend. I checked yesterday's posts and wow, looks like almost everyone had a great workout.:)

Lorihart, with all the running you do, you probably don't need any ab work.:)

Joy, I do those 2 sets of BB curls in PS with 35 lbs., but I do the negative curls with only 30. Whether I do the hammer curls and the curls with a twist with 15's or 12's, I still have to go down to 30 with negative curls. Then I HAVE to go down to 10's on the concentration curls. My biceps and triceps are my weakest parts. It took me about 5 months of strength training before I went from 12 to 15. I'm starting my 10th month on Cathe, and I'm still finding 15's a challenge.

Ladies, to answer your question about why I'm having strangers in my home for 6 weeks... To make a loooooong story short, it's more of a compromise. It was either they lived with us INDEFINITELY (I gotta say, some people are horribly thick-skinned) or they visit for a WHILE. Just in case I no longer post on this thread or in this forum, you'll know I've decided to pack my bags and go somewhere else while they're here. Or I've gone to jail because my rage simply got in the way.:) Okay, that's really nothing to smile about, but it's either I smile or smash some windows. I know my husband is caught between a rock and a hard place, but sometimes I want to kick his ass as well.

Anyway, I'm thinking of doing cardio and serious ab work this weekend. I'm still a little sore from Thursday's PS-UB work, and yesterday's endurance leg work. Yesterday was Leaner Legs, the ankle weight segment of Legs&Glutes and ab work from ME. I've only done one cardio session so far this week, so I'm going to make up for it this weekend.

Have a good one, y'all...

Happy Saturday everyone,

Just got through doing S&H Triceps and Biceps. My arms are shot. Pinky, I'm like you in that my triceps are very slow to build up any strength gains. I did the first two sets of overhead extensions with 15# and dropped to twelve for the last. For the lying extensions I got one set with 8's and then did 5's for the next two. For the kickbacks I stayed at 5# (but so did Cathe so I don't feel too bad). Then those last two sets of slow dips just killed me! My biceps are by far much better and I did really well on that section. I dislike how uneven I feel with regards to the difference between my triceps and biceps. So, arms are a work in progress.

I wound up taking yesterday off. Instead of working out after work, I stopped by the hospital and visited one of my good friends and her brand new baby girl (when I say new, the baby was born at 10 am and I showed up at 4:30). The baby was so adorable!!!

After my workout took about half an hour to vacuum my living room, dining room, hall, and to defur the couch and arm chairs. It's barely 9:30 where I'm at and I've gotten so much done already. I love that feeling of accomplishment.

Pinky, if you're options were between indefinitely and 6 weeks then you picked the best option you could. Bless your heart for trying to work with your husband to accomodate his family, especially when they seem so ungrateful for your sacrifice.

What are everyone's plans this weekend? I have some projects that I didn't get finished at work to do so I brought them home. I'll probably spend a couple of hours doing that. I've also caught the shopping bug and am itching to buy something. A sporting goods store in my area has the high step (blue top with grey risers) and I'm tempted to buy it and sell the copy of ME at Yaya's. But the cost is more than Cathe's price for the topper, 4 risers, and shipping. Oh what to do?

Have a good one all,

Just stopping by to see if anyone had posted for the weekend edition.

This past week was good for me as I was able to finally have a week that I planned go well as far as working out.

Pinky , You are a good woman...hubby better owe you big time for this. Hopefully the 'company' will not be so ungrateful for your allowing them use of your home. Good luck. I am one who'd probably go insane or have my hubby in the dog house (no nookie for him LOL) for a very long time ...let him suffer too }( . I hope they are nice to you and do realize your graciousness of being their hostess. They should be VERY appreciative.

My upper body is just weak, esp my left arm compared to my right. Slowly working on it.

No workouts for me until Monday as we are installing the ceremic tile in the kitchen and my home looks like I just moved in. ACK...I have my frigde and oven in my great room...what a mess but the tile is looking very nice though. I hope that when our company comes next weekend the 1st floor is completely done and is presentable. If not ...the heck with it. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow,your going all out! New floor for company:) I just had new flooring put in my bathroom.I hate doing anything with the house b/c every room seems like its a mess. But I love when its finished.
Eating was alot better for me today.I am going to a party tonight so I am sure that I will have a couple of drinks.I don't think it will be a late night though b/c my DH leaves at 9:30 in the morning:-( I wish we weren't doing anything at all.
I got my workout in today ,although I felt like napping.I did a 75 min run.I meant for it to be longer but the last 30 min of the run was interval running so I thought that was a good workout.Plus,I was getting tired:eek:
I had a bowl of CornFlakes for my dinner.I haven't had those in years.I was craving them.Everyone else is having McDonalds so I figured I was better off with a bowl of cereal. But there is going to be lots of food at the party tonight so I shouldn't be hungry.
Thats about it for me.Not much goes on around here during the weekends, hey? Pretty quite
Anyway,I hope everyone is having good weekend.Tomorrow is a full body workout,PH or ME.I am not sure which cardio I will do

Good evening everyone-

just finished Imax 2 and did the crunch section of KPC - feeling like my midsection is getting a little soft, probably because my eating has been inconsistant.

Sabine, are you getting rid of ME? or do you have the DVD? just wondering since this is one of my favorite weighted workouts. That's a great feeling to get so much accomplished before 10 am!

Shywolf, I'm very impressed. We just had the tile pulled up that my husband had replaced a few years ago and made the kids bathroom larger- I'm scared to go upstairs now that its finished. There is junk every where from everyone's bedrooms. I'm tempted to take a garbage bag and just start pitching but my kids always catch me.

Lori, we're going out tonight, too- Saturday nights are always my downfall. I'm going to try to have some cottage cheese/applesauce before we go out so I'm not tempted to eat everything I see.

Pinky, you can always pack your things and your son and come stay with me for 6 weeks ~ I probably wouldn't even notice with the activity that goes on around here. Pack your bags and keep them by the door just in case...

Hope the rest of you are having a good weekend!

:)

Hi everyone, happy Sunday to you all. Glad to see that some of you got some working out done yesterday because I didn't.:) Unexpected stuff came up yesterday and by the time I got home, it was well past 9 p.m. My son also ran a fever -- again;( -- but he's doing fine with the usual Advil and round of nebulizer treatments. So with all this stress blooming around me, my insomnia kicked in again. Woke up at 3 and stayed awake no matter how hard I tried to doze off. At 7, I gave up and did KPC. If I find time this afternoon or early tonight, I'll do another cardio session. Something light. I want to tire my body to the point where I sleep even before my head hits the pillow.

ShyWolf, I'm impressed with you laying out your own tile. Home improvement projects are very physical. I once redid our bedroom. Took me a whole month. Painted the walls, installed moulding and caulked it, made my own drapes, installed the hardware, refinished the furniture and made a new headboard out of our old one. I will NEVER do a project of that magnitude again. My goodness, the fatigue! But the fulfillment is very much worth it.:)

Brenda, thanks for the invite.:) I appreciate it very much. I've actually gotten calls... my aunt, my brother, my friend who wants to take me to San Francisco, and I would go at the drop of a hat if I didn't have a child in the picture. I'm constantly thinking of my boy. It's not just me anymore.

ShyWolf... no nookie, doghouse, suffering. I like the way you think.:7

Hellos to Sabine, Lorihart (that bowl of cereal sounds good), Lorisax, Tracy and Stacy-MN.

Happy Sunday everyone,

Just got through doing Mindy Mylrea's Extreme Intervals. This is no IMAX and a very tough aerobic workout in its' own right. Since Mindy isn't the greatest choreographer, the stuff between the workouts is very simple (which can be good if you're trying to get oxygen back into your system). The intervals can be quite tough although I think that they don't last quite as long as Cathe's in IMAX 2. I like this one a lot because it's intense and it keeps my mind fresh for Cathe.

Brenda, I now have ME on DVD. Before I got the DVD player for Christmas, I had it on VHS and have since sold that copy. If I got the step from the sporting goods store which includes the ME copy, I suppose I could sell that one and it would be about even price to ordering from Cathe.

Today I'm going grocery shopping to get some last minute solid food and to buy soft food for my surgery on Thursday morning. I plan on working out before surgery on Thursday, taking Friday off, and hopefully will be up for some light workouts over the weekend. Might be a good time to bust out some of my yoga tapes that I haven't done in ages.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi everyone,
NOt feeling 100% today:-( It doesn't matter how much you drink or how much you don't drink. If you go out to a party and you don't gt enough sleep, you are bound to feel like you got hit by a truck!
I only drank 2 drinks and I think I felt them.We get home at 1 and go to bed at 2.Then I am up again at 8:30.NOt enough sleep.
I made myself workout though b/c my little girl is gone to gymnastics and I knew that if I didn't workout now then I probably wouldn't get it in today. And I KNOW that I am going to want to take a nap this afternoon.:) That makes me happy.Anyway...I do feel hungover, even though I am not;(
I did ME today and a 50 min run.I would have ran for longer but time is a tick'in.If I catch a nap and have some more energy tonight I may workout again.Just b/c DH is gone and there is nothing else to do on a Sunday night:-( If not...I am happy with what I have done today.
Hope everyone is having a good Sunday!
Lori:)
