Hi everyone, PUB is in the stars today, plus some tough ab workouts. My husband is planning on taking everyone else to the zoo (beautiful day today out here), and I'm planning on spending the morning working out. If I have time I might take a long walk around the neighborhood.

Hope all of you are having a good weekend.

Pinky

Everyone,

I've caught the cold that my younger son had all week. If I feel up to it, I guess this will be the day that I try the Pilates BOSU video I bought recently. I was wondering when I would fit that in with my rotation!

Pinky, it sounds like you've got an ideal morning planned. Enjoy!

I hope everyone else is well. Have a great weekend!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Pinky- enjoy your time working out today- sounds like you have a nice lineup today. As per your post yesterday- I know what you mean. It seems men can age and still be considered sexy. But you know, I'm heading into my meno years very soon (in fact, I think I got one foot in it already...;) and I'm determined to join the ranks of so many other meno women who feel sexy, strong (inside and out) and wonderful about themselves and their bodies. The tide is changing (because so many women are... :p) So now, I'm getting off my soap box...:p

Lisa- take care of your cold and if you do work out, have a great time!:)

Lori, Traci, Shywolf, Joy and Sabine- have a wonderful day!

Elizabeth

Hmmm....what happened to my post? I posted here about 2 hrs ago.I must have logged off before my post was actually up.
Anyway, the weather here is o.k today. It is not to cold but we got some more snow.Like we need it.I am dying for summer to come.I love warm weather and I feel like I could be a bear in the winter monthes and not go through the door.
I am having a pretty good Saturday.I started it off with a x-tra lg coffee, then I started in at my house work.I still need to clean my kitchen floor.
I am kinda in a bad mood now b/c DH as pissed me off.He has been gone all day and now he wants to go to the cabin for the night. Its a bit late now don't ya think? 5 o'clock here. Its just to much work to go down there and then come back tomorrow morning.I also know that he has a hockey tournament he is going on next weekend(which was fine) but a friend just told me that they are going on a ski-doo trip the weekend after.HELLO!!!!!!!!! Who is he married to? I try not to blow things out of proportion until I actually talk to him but sometimes I find that he can put me on the back burner and expect to find me there when he has time for me.He is not like this all the time and normally he treats me like the princess I am:) But then there are other times when he takes me for granted and I wish I could just disappear for a couple of days and let him know how it feels.I have been off on saturdays now for a while and he didn't want be to go back b/c "we were going to do stuff" More like,he gets to do what he wants while I watch the child. If I was at work he would have to find a sitter or he wouldn't be able to go.If he thinks he is going away weekend after weekend,I am going back to work and that should fix him.
Other then that...I had a good workout.I feel like I need to go for a run again to releive some stress.Exercise always makes me feel better when I got alot on my mind.
I did Puch Pull, the other 1/2 of BC and a 60 min run. What good it did b/c I have eaten about 8 little easter eggs since I worked out.
Anyway, thats it for me.I will let you know how my arguement goes with my hubby.I am also really pissed about the bowflex. We paid $3000 for that and I don't think he has used it 5 times.I am soon gonna sell it.My blood is really starting to boil....
Lori:)

Oh my goodness Lori, how long did you work out today? Or better yet... How much steam did you need to let loose?:D When I'm mad at the hubby, I kickbox. Float his image right in front of me and fly.:D After that, when I'm more calm, then I tell him that he pissed me off (because he can never tell) and WHY (because he never has a clue either):D.

Pinky

I guess today was get pissed off at your hubby day.

My hubby has a very bad habit of wanting to wake me up before the sun rises to 'fool around' with him.. I don't do mornings and I love my sleep . So I was in a foul mood when he woke me up and I was not able to get back into a good sleep . So I did MSB to get out the anger I got . Now if he would only get amorous in the evenings when I'm rareing to go....I'd have no problem LOL

Good Morning Girls...I should be in church shouldn't I? Instead I don't know what I have up my sleeve.
Well, there wasn't much of a fight yesterday.I just asked him what he was planning on doing for the next two weekends and I told him that I was going to go back to work on Saturdays. He didn't want me to go to work b/c he wanted to do "stuff" but I think his intentions were so that he didn't have to get a babysitter. He would argue with that black and blue but thats what it looks like.
Anyway,we stayed home last night. We played cards,I ate when I wasn't hungry and I downed a drink in about 10 min.But there was no alclhol in it:) I don't know what we are doing today. My little girl as gymnastics from 12-3.The weekends pretty much revolve around her.I think everyone do when they have children.
I am so sore from yesterdays workout. Those inner thigh ball squeezes got me good.I RRRRRRRRRRReallllllllly gave those my all and I was burning so much I thought I was going to throw up.I have to do those more often.Like 2 times a week.I used 50 lbs for squats,24 lbs for static lunges and 50lbs for deadlifts.Everything in my lower body hurts.I went heavier then Cathe on pretty much everything. That was my intentions but my upper body didn't feel as worked out.Thats o.k thought b/c they have been trying to heal from last week.
PInky-I am not sure how long I was working out for.Maybe 2 and a bit.I stopped Push Pull and the calf raises b/c I didn't want to do those.I normally workout for that long.Since christmas passed and I got my treadmill.Very oddly my weight hasn't changed. You would think it would.I use to always workout for that long.I would go for a run outside, and then I would come in and lift weights. But for the last year I would come home and hop in the shower and I skipped weights alot.
SHywolf-I am glad my hubby doesn't wake me up for that.He is usually the last one out of bed so he is pretty lazy. That would be a whole new arguement.
I have cardio planned for today.I am not sure if I will do it now or wait until tonight.
Lori:)

Hello everyone, today is another rest day for me. Should've been a lower body or cardio day, but that's out of the question 'til Wednesday. My knees actually feel better. But not being able to do what I want to do still sucks.:p

Lori, those weights you use for squats and deadlifts are impressive.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

Pinky

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello before getting to this morning's workout, which is Kathy Smith's Peak Fat Burning or something like that. I'm still not pushing as hard as I normally do on the cardio due to the lack of energy with this whole soft food diet. Only 2 days to go!!!!!

Hearing everyone's posts about their husbands made me think that it is sometimes not that bad being single. My last boyfriend had a habit (at times, not all the time) of doing the same things that your husbands, Lorihart and Shywolf, do and it pissed me off something fierce!

Had a wonderful pre-birthday weekend with my sister. She totally surprised me with new fitness wear (a pair of shorts with two different tops that coordinate with it) and the Cathe 8 pack DVD!!!!! I'm so grateful and appreciative! We also went for a lovely walk with her dogs, watched Pirates of the Caribbean (ah, Johnny!), and had lots of laughs and talks.

Well, best be off before I decide to blow of this morning.

Take care all,

Hey everyone,

I think it's going to take me a little while to get to the point where I can remember everything I want to reply to, and everyone's names! I guess I could take notes :7 . Actually this would be a good mental exercise, to help me from going senile in my old age!

Lorihart, I hear what you're saying. Been there, done that. Sometimes are better than others. Pinky, I also like doing kickbox when I'm really pissed off (like Friday morning--I really felt it in my arms and back yesterday morning!).

Sabine, what a wonderful birthday presents. You're going to have such fun with those. I took my kids to see Pirates of the Caribbean last fall. Johnny Depp is pretty cute, and was great in that movie. I read somewhere that he was trying to be like Keith Richards in that role. I think he came pretty close!

I did Stott Pilates Essential Bosu yesterday. It was good. Some of the exercises were done differently than I would have expected. The hundred was actually done kneeling on the Bosu, as well as single leg circles (balancing on one knee). I followed it with the abs segment from Keli Roberts BURN, which is a Bosu/Bodybar workout. I think my abs actually felt tighter this morning! I'm anxious to try some of Cathe's ab work on the Bosu.

I still am feeling my cold today, so I'm going to try to take it easy again. I may try another new workout--Beth Shaw's Yoga Strength, which uses a 4 lb body bar. Although...I think that's still going to be somewhat strenuous. We'll see...

Hey, I have a question. Are you guys all in pretty good shape, and have you always been? I was thin until my mid 20's (5'4" 110-115), and then started grad school at night just before I turned 25. Stopped really doing any kind of exercise at that point. It took close to two years, but I put on over 25 lbs and developed reasonnably bad asthma (probably always had it, but had kept it under control through exercise). I kept on the weight until after I stopped nursing my second child, and decided I needed to do something (early 2000). Initially I just walked 2 or 3 miles a day and some weight work on my own and then from magazines. Started doing Pilates from a book, and got into the Firm after about 9 months. Anyway, I lost 25 pounds in 3 or 4 months, and have kept it off; my asthma settled down within the first month. I discovered Cathe at Christmas 2002, with a present to myself. My weight's up a little (I'm 125), because of the additional muscle, but I think I'm probably about in the best shape of my life. Sorry, that was a little long, but I was just curious about everyone else.

To everyone else, Shywolf, Elizabeth, and the rest (I'm going to write down the names next time!), have a great day!

Pinky-on you knee problem, what about yoga? Gaiam/Living Arts has a good yoga for lower body with Suzanne Deason (sp?). Also, Baron Baptiste used to have a series called "Hot Yoga". I've only done level 1. It had three segments: sun salutations, lower body and abs. The lower body was only 15 minutes, 7.5 on each side, but boy, did that make my quads scream. I think it's been repackages as his Power Yoga series, and I believe I've seen it at Target.

Just a thought...

Hi Everyone,
Its me again.I did my workout in the a.m and its nice to have it done:) I did intervals 6-10 of imax2 and a 40 min run.I wanted to do it on a empty belly b/c I didn't eat well yesterday ssssssssssssoooooooooooo it may be all in my head but I think I may have burned off the trash I ate last night:) If it were only that easy!
SAbine-Thats was an awesome gift.My sister and I spend more on each other for holidays then we do on our brothers.Must be a sister thing.Last year for her b-day I bought her a new aerobics video.
Lisa-I wasn't always in good shape but I didn't spend to long out of shape.I was always active in high school and slim.I am 5'4" and I weighed 118.I am med build so thats slim for me.I got pregnat in grade 11 and I never did lose all of the weight.Being young and pregnate is not as hard as people may think.I don't meal finacially but I mean,I think you have more patience and instead of freaking out b/c you have a infant to take care of, it was like playing with a doll all day long.I did have alot of help from my family as well. And the weight thing to,when your young the weight just falls off.Anyway, I gained weight when I started college and going out with my hubby.I went up to 137 lbs. About 1 year later I got back into working out.I started with jogging and Keli Roberts and Kathy Smith workouts.I bought a mag one time and they were rating aerobics videos.I called my sister and read out BM for her.Needless to say thats what I got for my b-day from her.And I have been hooked ever since.I am noe around 125-127.I would like to be around 120 but I don't even know if thats realistic.I think I am in pretty good shape, especially when I look at teenagers these days and I realize that I am smaller then them...alot smaller.
Anyway, thats my story.Just wanted to pop in and tell ya what workout I did.
Have a good one,
Lori:)

Lori, I'd love to burn off all the bad stuff I've eaten this WEEK, too. If only I could.:)

Sabine, what a lovely gift from a sibling. Now you have more workouts to look forward to once you're fully recovered.:)

Lisa, I do have Suzanne Deason's yoga video. I've tried only half of it. Somehow I can take only 30 minutes of yoga max. It is a great workout for those who are already familiar with all these different poses, but for someone like me who is always at the beginner level of yoga, I wished she went slower, like Patricia Walden. Now that I think of it, I shouldn't have auctioned off that tape on e-bay. I checked Baron Baptiste, and his workouts are kinda expensive, but I've heard a lot of good things about him, especially from yoga fans, so he must be really good. I'll definitely keep him in mind.

Have I always been in pretty good shape? No.}( Even when I did so much stepping in my 20's I wasn't. I THOUGHT I was because I was at the gym a lot and could last as long on the step as the instructor while everyone around me was starting to wilt, but I had no muscle tone and my eating habits were atrocious. Fettuccine alfredo with breadsticks slathered with butter, margaritas and chicken wings, then breakfast at 2 a.m. at Denny's were my common fare on the weekends while I pumped myself with pots of coffee and boxes of crackers during the work week. I've always been on the slender side despite the hips, but thinness doesn't necessarily equate with health. But ever since I discovered Cathe, things really changed for me. My body is tighter in my 30's than it ever was in my teens and 20's. (Except for the baby pooch, the saddlebags and inner thighs.) I learned to connect with my body. I've never had this relationship with my body before. I come from a family of intellectuals and enterpreneurs. Everyone exists from the brain. The better to dissect, process, analyze and extrapolate, my dear...:) I discovered a part of myself that would have remained hidden -- lost -- otherwise.

Hi Lisa,

To answer your question 'Are you guys all in pretty good shape, and have you always been?'. Currently I think I am in wonderful shape. I am 5'7" tall and probably weigh around 133#. I fit into a size 6 or a small in most things. When I had my blood pressure checked right before my surgery it was 109/60. I have developed some really good muscle definition, especially in my upper body and abs (even my sister who sees me quite regularly was impressed). I feel amazing most of the time, with a good deal of energy and enthusiasm to face each day. It's probably the best I've felt my whole life.

I started out as a thin child and when I moved here to the US as a six year old I got very ill with pneumonia. The doctor's encouraged my mom to feed me whatever I wanted to build up my strength. I think my mom, who believed me to be a sickly child, indulged me and it started to show in my weight. I was a pudgy child and teenager and didn't grow out of it until senior year of high school. I started college a healthy weight and quickly gained and went up and down throughout. I maintained a healthy weight throughout graduate school and started to yo-yo again afterward, where I hit my highest weight of 158. About 5 or so years ago I discovered the Zone and it made a lot of sense to me. I started out very strict with the portions and ratios and lost 20 pounds and have kept it off. When I seriously committed to fitness in July 2003 I lost 5 more pounds. Two very important things happened this time around. First, I focused on a balance of weight and cardio and have really changed my body composition. This is the most 'buff' I've ever been and I really like it. Second, I learned to love exercise for the sake of movement and how it made me feel, not merely as a way to get thin. I have such a healthy attitude now that I've never had before. I wish I could have learned this lesson sooner.
