Cathlete
Hi everybody, since I did upper body work yesterday and can't do any lower body work or stepping or kickboxing for a week, I find myself awfully bored.

Next week I'm thinking of doing a S&H rotation (UB only) with lots of ab work as that takes a lot of time and will keep me from despairing.:)

I'll check in later to see how you all are doing. Have a great weekend.

Pinky

Hey everyone. Thank you for your welcoming words yesterday. Pinky, I think Keanu Reeves is pretty cute also. Another actor I like is John Cusack.

I did the cardio conditioning premix from KPC this morning. I found myself to be pretty irritated going into it, and really enjoyed the punching and kicking. I also tried very hard to hold in my abs, and really felt it. I'm trying to focus on that more in my cardio workouts. I haven't done that in the past, but I know it's a good thing to strive for, and so I'm working on it.

Hey, Pinky, some time ago, some one talked about a rotation in which they did each body part once a week. When they did upper body one day might focus on just chest, but they did chest work from several different workouts. Specifically, I remember them putting together CTX and the pyramids, but it may have been more than that. When I get a minute, I'll try to do a search to see if I can find it.

Just to give you a few details about me, I work full time, I have two sons, and I'm 40 years old. I started doing Cathe's workouts at the beginning of 2003. In the past couple of months, I've been doing Cathe's workouts exclusively. I did a timesaver and BC rotation last month, which really worked well for me. The past couple of weeks have been a little crazy, so I'm just now figuring out my next rotation. I'm thinking about the following: one day IMAX2, one day ME or PH, two days 30-40 minutes cardio w/ abs, one day short cardio w/ upper body, and one day either L&G, LL, or TS#5. I exercise early in the morning before work, so during the week, I have 50 minutes absolute max to workout.

Hope everyone's doing well today!

Hello Pinky,
I am sorry you are bored. Really, one week isn't too long (easy for me to say...)

Hi Lisa and welcome. Talk about whatever you like.

Elizabeth, I can imagine what those mats have done for your knee comfort (Pinky - do you have good flooring?) Living in Florida I have always been in a concrete block structure. I discovered very early on - firm days- that I couldn't take that pounding. I had a platform built with 2x4's and 3/4" plywood so I could jump on wood flooring. Its actually two platforms side by side, making my total area 6 x 8. This greatly limits my space but I modify to accomodate. Some things I cannot do, like turn my step vertically and do moves off the front or back - Christi does this in one of her steps - i think it is still steppin'

Tracy I hope your back in hiking condition by Saturday! 5 hours? where are you going? Don't tell me the Appalachian Trail! (Did you ever read Bill Bryson's book 'A Walk in the Woods'?)

As for Secret crushes my longstanding ones are: Paul McCartney, Sean Connery, Justin Hayward (Moody Blues) And my more recently added is Johnny Depp (loved him in Chocolate) and Brad Pitt. Okay, I don't care if they are old enough to be my father or older brother OR young enough to be my son or younger brother!!LOL

Hello Shywolf, Lori and Lori. And a wave to YOU if I've forgotten you.

I'm with everyone on "Sabine's Beach Bodies" for March. I was looking at the rotation laid out like a calendar and I would make a few minor changes to accomodate my days off. I prefer to take my rest days on work days and workout on days off. And I have a good amount of days of planned in March because it is spring training and I've got tickets!!!

I really like the rotation the more I look at it because it isn't so brutal. Some (well most) of the rotations are just too much for me. I also like that the cardio's are left open so that we can <insert instructor here> in the schedule.

See you Monday if not before. (as soon as I hit the post message button, i'm sure someone else will too :) )

Hi All;
Boot Camp for me again this morning. Whoa I may end up feeling it later on tonight or Saturday as I upped my wts a bit. I found that it went by so fast this time and when she got to the stretch part I was like 'that's it? It's over already?' Still working on the core part ...ouch!

Still working out in my daughter's room...I hope the hubby gets all the wiring for the media stuff done this weekend.

I'm still undecided about what type of rotation I want for March...I was actually looking at Cathe's June rotation using S&H broken up with cardio mixed in. Guess I'll decide that when I get there.

Welcome to Lisa, just jump in and talk about whatever. I don't think any of us had any 'rules' LOL.

Tonight's date night with the hubby and I'm looking forward to it...it's the only time I can have a grateful dead drink and some 'bad' food LOL.

If I find the time this weekend I'll probably do a 'lite' cardio of Cathe's or just walk in my neighborhood with all of these nice hilly roads.

Have fun all! See you all on Monday if not beforehand.

Hello everyone! And a welcome to Lisa- I'm a newbie, too as I joined just this week. The people on this board are THE BEST!:) Sabine invited me to join- she helped me to get started on my *Cathe-Journey*.

I just finished TS5 and boy, she worked my b*** off good!:p A bit of a funny story- I just got done with the leg extensions, side leg raises and was in the middle of the inner thigh work when Cathe says, *Boy, these *2 lb* ankle weights sure get heavy don't they?...* and my head popped up and I went: *Two pounds*?!!!. I had on FIVE pound ankle weights. So I'm feeling a bit wobbly right now...

Joy- you are absolutely right- the padding makes a HUGE diff!
:). Your flooring sounds great, too!

Pinky- sorry you feel bored my friend. It's so hard to curtail your activity esp when the spirit is willing but the body is not-so much :-( . Hang in there and the week will be over before you know it.

Shywolf- I'm with Joy- what is a grateful dead drink?:)

As for hunks- Sean Connery (his accent gets me everytime!), Viggo Mortensen (Strider/Aarogon in Lord of the Rings)- love that cleft!

Have a great weekend, folks! See you Mon!

Hellos to Lori and Sabine

Elizabeth

Edited to say: Sabine's rotation looks good. I don't have some of these DVD's yet. I've been eyeing BC/ME- what do you knowlegeable people think/say? I have TS, CTX, Classics and PUB/PLB. TIA!

Pinky,

I found the thread I mentioned above. It was entitled "Workout", it was started Sept 15, 2003, and defietz provided the following describing how she did two body parts per day (I was wrong when I said one per day):

"Hi all,
The way I did it each w/o lasted around an hr, but I didnt pay that close of attention and of course on days that I added ab work, it was longer.

With PUB, I would do for example; PUB chest full pyramid, then PH or CTX chest, then move to biceps PUB (full) then PH or CTX biceps--(that particular day, I wanted to cry!!!!)

I only worked each body part once a week, but I didnt need anymore than that, normaly I would work them twice at least, but the rotation was killer for me, and I was seeing such nice results that I didnt feel like I needed anymore work.

for legs I would do the pyramids fully or leaner legs, and sometimes add on a little bowflex work.

I really really loved this rotation, and will be going back to it after I finish Cathes Sept rotation.

Jayne"

Anyway, maybe you could try this for the next week, if nothing else comes to mind.

Hi Joy;
These are soooo good but ya need to be careful cause they sneak up on you.

Grateful Dead-
Ingredients
1/2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Rum
1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
DeKuyper Razzmatazz

Directions
Fill a collins glass with ice. Add all the white alcohol. Add the sour mix. Top off the glass with razzmatazz or chambord raspberry liqueur. Then shake to mix contents. This is a fruity version of a 'Long Island Iced Tea'.

Afternoon all,

What a crazy morning! Got up early to do PS Back, Biceps and Abs (which went very well) and then did a bunch of house cleaning before my sister comes down to spend tonight and tomorrow with me. Then had to meet with my superviser to get some paperwork off and then it was downtown to drop off said paperwork. I'm beat!

I'm so pleased that the rotation I came up with is getting such positive feedback from you. I'm 95% certain that I'll do this for March (and probably again in May as I'm going to Hawaii the beginning of June). Maybe March's check in can be called 'Back to the beach' or something like that.

Elizabeth- If you wanted to do the rotation I posted you could make some substitutions. For the upper body weight work you could cycle between PUB, CTX upper body (do you have the DVD, it's right there as another workout on disc 2), and all the upper body chapters for Timesaver. For lower body you could cycle between PLB, Leaner Legs from CTX, and Timesaver 5 which is a slightly condensed version of Legs and Glutes (as you discovered today). Between Timesaver and CTX and the Classics you have plenty of cardio to fill out the rotation.

Shywolf- I agree with Joy that the Grateful Dead sounds like it could back slap me upside the head and have me for dinner. But I love fruity alcoholic drinks so it sounds divine. Hawaii is so great for really amazing fruit drink concoctions.

Pinky- I hear your frustration over having to rest your knees. I have cranky knees and I get so annoyed when they act up and I have to back off my workouts. Remember that in the end it is for the best as your knees will probably come back strong and ready to go after getting some much needed rest. Have you thought about Pilates workouts for your legs since you can't lift? Most of the leg work is done lying on the floor.

Confession: In addition to Johnny Depp, my not so secret crush is on Dermot Mulroney, the guy in My Best Friends Wedding and Copycat. He must be mine at some point!!!!!!!

Hellos to Lisa, Brenda, Lorisax, Lorihart, Tracy, and Stacy MN.

Hello to everyone!
Just a quick note because I'm in the process of putting babes to bed... My legs are feeling much better today, so I finally did Imax 2 (just 6-10) and then followed that up with Muscle Endurance.
Joy- thanks for the clarification about TTR's- do you know why chest and back are only worked 2x instead of the 3x for BTSh? I'm wondering if it has to do with bulking up? ShyWolfe- hope you don't have too bad of a headache in the morning!
Pinky- hope the knees feel better soon.

Have a great night everyone else! Sorry I can't give more personal greetings but I gotta run.

Hi again everyone, thank you all for your thoughts about my ornery knees and your suggestions regarding what I can do in the meantime.

Lisa, that rotation looks like a killer. But it's a great idea.:D From the looks of it, I know right off the bat there is no way I can do PS-Chest followed by PUB-Chest. Maybe either PS-Chest OR PUB-Chest followed by either PH-chest OR CTX-chest. Love it, LOVE IT!!! I can probably do a S&H rotation first half of next week then do something like this for the second half.

Joy, my flooring is carpet. It isn't as brutal as concrete, but it can be hard on the shins, especially with those triples around the steps in RS and SB.

ShyWolf, that grateful dead drink would probably knock me over after three sips.:7 Great job on BC. I have NO IDEA when I will ever have the courage to do that one.:)

Elizabeth, ain't it great to know Cathe feels those two-pounders? Or is she just saying that to make us all feel better?:D Yup, I do think Sean Connery is mucho guapito. So is Kirk Douglas. I wouldn't call this a crush though. More like envy.}( Why is it that men can age so well, while women have to get botoxed, collagened, lasered, pulled, tucked and peeled? As for the workouts you're eyeing... I have never done BC in all the time I've had it. I seldom do ME since I'm more of a PH and CTX kinda girl, but I use it for variety's sake. It's a great workout.

Sabine, thanks for the suggestion. I might go to Target or Oshman's to see what Pilates workouts they have in stock.

Tracy, I'm glad (and kinda envious:) ) to see you're back with your workouts and enjoying it.

Hellos to Brenda, Lorihart, Lorisax and Stacy.

HI Girls,

I have been pretty busy the last couple of days and I haven't got to hang out much:-(
I didn't workout yesterday,(sort of) I did do triceps and abs.Thats it.
I just finished my workout for today.I did 1/2 BC and a 60 min run.I was planning on working out for longer but I am going to save some energy for tomorrows workout.I need to do cardio and a totally body.
Anyway,I have to go play games with my 7 yr old.Another reason why I cut my workout short.
