Angela,

How far do you run? Do you run races? Just curious! I consider myself a runner on hiatus. The last time I have run was the Atlanta half-marathon on Thanksgiving day 2002. Shortly thereafter I found out I was pregnant, nausea followed, and I cut down the intensity of my workouts and did strictly exercise videos. Now I'm in post partum recovery, working on building back up to where I was over a year ago.

Anyway, today I did the 61 min. SB/SJ&P weights and step circuit. I find that I don't like having exercises laying down (today it was chest and tricep exercises) in the middle of a circuit workout. Once I get back up to continue cardio, I feel dizzy and like I want to faint. Other than that it was fine.

Hey Emy,
I was just starting to run once a week for cross training. The first time I ran 3 miles(ran 3min. walked 1 min.), then 4 miles, then 5 miles at running 5 min. walking 1 minute. I really did not have any intentions of going further than 5. Well the friend I run with runs marathons and she was just running with me for "fun." We tried to run 6 min. and walk 1 min. and my left knee started acting up big time. I rested a week and felt fine and today we knocked it back to running 4 min. and walking 1 min. but my knee got a dull ache. Last run it was a shooting pain b/c I kept running. Well we quit immediately today as I don't want to give up my Cathe workouts due to a running injury. I think I have runners knee...something to do with the I.T. Band? Anway I will not run for two or three weeks and then I'm going to just run 2 miles...run 3min. and walk 1min. If my knee still acts up I will quit as it is just not worth it to me. I can do both Imax's fine and I do weight work and feel really strong so I guess it is just the impact of running. I think my cardiovascular health was ready for running but my joins weren't! Oh well...as long as I can workout to Cathe!
I would love to run a half marathon but I just don't think my knee is going to cooperate. When did you have your baby by the way? Boy or girl? Congrats! My husband and I hope to become parents in the next couple of years!:7

I hope you don't have to give up running for good! Injuries are really frustrating, though, so the most important thing is to take care of yourself.

My baby boy, Max, was born on Aug 30th. I've never been much of a "baby person," but having my own is the best thing in the world! Happy New Year!
