Barre, How often???

I had an injury lately and haven't been moving around as much as I like, esp not working out. I feel like my hip flexors have weakened. I know that barre work is one of the things to help. How often can I do this? How many days in between? I have also been trying to incorporate more stretching as well. Any thing else anyone has tried that helps?

Sorry to hear you have an injury, me too. Impinged shoulder and I have backed off for about 3 weeks. Just started with a lower body w/o yesterday. Hope we heal quickly.

As with all exercise you need to listen to your body. I try not to work the same muscle groups 2 days in a row. So if I do a Barre workout that focuses more on Glutes and Outer Thighs then I could do a Barre workout the next day that focuses on Inner Thighs. However if I do a more Total Body Barre workout then I will take at least one day off before I do another Barre workout. But it also depends on how intense the workouts are. If I have done a particularly hard workout and my muscles are sore I may need to wait 3 or 4 days before I do that type of workout again and do something less intense in between.

Other things I do are Restorative Pilates and either Yin Yoga or Hatha Yoga. Injuries often cause misalignments in the body which can cause further injury especially when you start increasing the intensity of your workouts as you recover. These forms of Pilates and Yoga are not fast flowing, you tend to move slower and hold positions for longer and focus more on breathing, body awareness and alignment. I also do foam rolling and roll my feet on a spiky ball to help release muscle stiffness before I do Restorative Pilates or Yoga which also helps with alignment.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery.

I've had that on both my shoulders but only one had a rotator cuff tear. I was out with a sling for 2 months without moving my arm. I HATED THAT!!!! Plus it happened on my left shoulder and of course I'm left handed. Both mine had to have surgery to repair the impingement. Thanks for the response and hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into doing split lower body, sounds good. I'm already doing the yoga because I love it. Just trying to get a plan together to get back on track.
