barefeet

My only space for working out right now is carpeted. Is it o.k. to do the step workouts on carpet? Also, I only have one pair of shoes-chacos- so I have been working out barefoot. I realize the proper shoe would be better but I can't afford new shoes until october. Is it safe to be working out barefoot on carpet?

It's not just the carpet you need to worry about. Cathe cardios are high impact stuff and you will have many moves that require you to jump onto the step itself. I also do not like to think of you doing any blasts or interval workouts without proper cushioning on your feet. That would be the fast track to achilles heel problems, maybe plantar fascitis, and who knows what else.

Do you have a TJMAXX or similar discount shop in your area? A cheap pair of sneakers with cushioning from there is better than bare feet.

Not Cathe here, but I do my Cathe workouts on carpet.

As for working out barefoot, I would not advocate this approach. Among other things, shoes provide shock absorption and ankle support. You could damage your knees, your feet, your ankles, etc.

Of course, that's just my humble opinion.

Yoga barefoot? Stretch barefoot? Pilates barefoot? Some no-impact kickboxiing barefoot? Fine.

As for cardio andn weights barefoot, I have to add my "no" to the others. I don't think that doing any impact cardio or any weight work barefoot is a good idea (the latter partly because of the risk of stubbing a toe or worse, but also because of the need for support).

Doesn't step work HURT your feet when you go barefoot? The ridged surface of the step would hurt my feet.
