Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals

Mariela: I have medium and medium beige. The medium beige is definately a yellow undertone. The medium isn't quite pink, but it definately not as yellow. I also have warmth which would probably work for anyone. It is reddish and used to add color to your face.

I also agree that just a little goes pretty far. I learned this the hard way! Usually I put on some with the little brush they gave to cover under the eyes and any blemishes and then start blending with the kabuki brush. If I still need more, I add a little with the regular brush and again blend. If I put on too much I use a face cloth to wipe off some of it and blend again. But over all, think sparingly.

Has anyone used any other Bare Escentual products such as eye shadow, eye liner or lip stick? Are they also good or is another brand such as Clinque/Mac better?

I should be receiving my foundation kit on Wed. I am so excited! It is not as exciting as getting Cathe's tapes but it will do until Hard Core is ready!

Thanks everyone for all your input! You have been very helpful!

Karen:)

I've used the lipstick. I really like the colors and it seemed to blend very well with the rest of the makeup. I have also used the eye shadow. It was very light (weight-wise) on my eyelids - other eye shadows have really weighed down my eyelids. Also, I have tried the eyeliner. I wasn't thrilled and I guess that I feel that eyeliner is eyeliner.

I also saw Bare Escentuals on TV. I was really hesitant about buying it without seeing it first. I live in Virginia. About two months after I saw the infomercial, my job sent me out to the San Francisco area. I spent a couple of hours at Bare Escentuals store and got a complete make-over. It was nice to have the make-up done by someone familiar with the product. I walked out of there with a very large purchase, and went back a few times more before I left the area. I have ordered from QVC and they are very efficient. Most of the items arrive via UPS and luckily QVC encloses the purchases in plastic. Also, ULTA stores sell some Bare Escentuals products. There is one that just opened near my house. Also, try eBay, but I would only buy the ones that come sealed - forget the samples because it may be from a used jar. I sold some of my sealed Bare Escentuals on eBay - I really over bought when the ULTA store opened in my area! There used to be Bare Escentuals boutiques in Pennsylvania (in King of Prussia), and in the Atlanta area (one in the airport), but I don't know if they are still there or not.

You should really enjoy the make up. It is easy to apply, and saved me a good 15 minutes in the mornings. Every little bit helps!!

Hi Mariela,

I'm the first shade, Fair #1, and IMHO it has neutral to yellow undertones. In general, pink undertones in foundation just don't look good, even on people with pink in their skin. I recall when watching the BE specials on QVC that one of the medium shades appeared to be more pink than the other. If you check out the BE section of the Sephora website, there are pretty accurate color pictures that also indicate which type of skin the colors are most appropriate for.

Hi again,

I've been using the blush and like it very much. I also plan on trying the eyeshadow when my credit cards stop smoking lol. IMHO, the best colored products are those from MAC, Trish McEvoy, and Stila. The colors tend to be very pigmented and blend well. The BE blush is highly pigmented as well and does look super natural.

Hi Buttercup,

Sometimes, I feel like I use a lot of product, and I am wondering how much others use. When you put foundation in the lid for example, about how much do you use for your entire face? A few sprinkles? Then again, QVC has auto-delivery for every 60 days, and even using the product morning and night, I'd never run out that quickly.

Thanks for any input.

I've never tried any of the lip/eyeshadow products from BE. Hopefully I'll get to try some next time I head to a Sephora store.

I really like "lip polish" from Stila..last time I went to the counter, I tried on so many colors, couldn't decide which one to get right away because they all looked really natural.

MAC has good lipgloss, I wish I could spend more time looking at their products, but their counter here *always* has a big crowd standing around it!

I also really like products from NARS, especially their eyeshadows.

I use it all. I love the eyeshadows and they have a huge variety of colors. I also use the lipglosses...love them. I have one of the lip pencils/stick thingys in Fig...that's nice too. I LOVE the eyeliner because for some reason it is easier for me to apply than either a liquid or a pencil. They also have some cool colors in that. Some of the metalic-y colors can be used wet as eyeliner and when you do that they look like foil...it's a fun look for a party or out for the evening. I love the color "True" in blush and lipgloss.
