I am going to purchase a barbell for Cathe workouts. I can buy a Firm barbell from a friend who wants to sell it. But, I want to know what kind I should get for Cathe workouts. Thank you!:)

Hi Annabelle,

Obviously I'm not Cathe but I can tell you that you won't be sorry purchasing a barbell.

As for the "type" to purchase, it really doesn't matter. If your friend's Firm barbell will hold up to 50 lbs, you can't go wrong--if the price is right. You can purchase the barbell Cathe uses in the Intensity series from www.walmart.com for $29.99 plus $20 shipping & handling. The bar weighs 4 lbs & the total weight of the set is 50 lbs, I think. Or you can go to D*ck's Sporting Goods or Sports Authority & get a 15 lb bar with plates for a total weight of 110 lbs for about the same price.

Whatever you decide, you will really enjoy using the barbell with Cathe's workouts!

Hi,

I purchased my barbell set from Troy - complete set for 49.99 plus S&H. There are several links on Cathe's site that will take you there and you could check them out. You won't be sorry.

Take care,

Iris

I recommend the Troy Lite set, which you can get at fitness1st.com It's compact, has rubber-coated plates (which don't rust), and you can get extra plates at 1.25 pounds to go up in smaller increments. I have four different barbells, and the Troy lite is my favorite. I also just recycled my rusty iron weight plates and replaced them all with Troy rubber-coateds.

I bought my barbell weights at walmart 120lbs of weights and the bar with the clips for 22.96 plus tax. That has 4-20lb ... 2-10 lbs and 2-8 lbs .... Rhonda
