barbell question

I have a curved barbell instead of a straight one. :p

Is there a difference between the two? Do they work the muscles the same?
 
Do you mean the E-Z bar? Shaped like a "W?" It will work muscles differently depending on the exercise. For example, if you're using it for bicep curls, the closer grip will work the outside of the muscle more, the wider grip will work the inside.

But for things like squats & lunges, when the bar is placed on your shoulders, it's the same thing.
 
yep, that's the one... So, basically I can use it when cathe is using a straight barbell just be mindful of hand placement?
 
I would think an EZcurl bar wouldn't be comfortable for squatting and lunging. It's good for using different hand placement for bicep and tricep exercises, both to hit the muscle in a bit different way and to use a position that is less stressful to the wrists.
 
Yes--in fact, I think when you're doing a Cathe workout you could alternate the grip & hit the whole muscle really hard.

Kathryn--you'd be surprised how well an EZ bar can fit over the shoulders, it just depends on which angle you use.
