Band Kickbacks?

Murphymax

Cathlete
I was reading a post on "ask Cathe" and someone asked her about exercises for people with knee problems. In her reply, she mentioned fire walkers and band kickbacks. I know what fire walkers are; however, not band kickbacks. Would someone be able to explain this to me?

Also, if you have any other suggestions for the legs that are knee friendly I would greatly appreciate it. I have been doing the floor exercises from legs and glutes and gym style legs; however, I am a bit bored doing the same thing week after week and would also welcome something that is more intense; if that is possible without doing squats, lunges and leg presses :-(

Thank you!

Make the band into a loop, put it around your ankles (or around one ankle and the bottom of the other foot, whichever works best for you) and lift one leg backward (doing a hip extention).

Thank you

Group, thank you so much for the great information. The video on youtube looks quite helpful. I need to create something at home to hold the band so I do not need a partner.

Thank you again to everyone!
