Balance Board versus Xerdisc

NY25

Cathlete
Any opinions? I want to get one to help strengthen my poor weak knees. I used a balance board in PT, but the Xerdisc is also an option (could use it for lunges maybe?). Anyone use/have either of these? Which do you find to have more practical applications? Comments? Thanks!

I love my balance stuff! Target has their balance board things on clearance (at least at mine.) 30% off I think. I also have 2 of the xerdiscs and enjoy those, and a BOSU (love that thing) and a Reebok core board that I got used on ebay. You can do so much with all of it. I will use any of these (except the balance board - don't have that but I guess it's the thing that is round with a ball like thing under it? That is what Target has on clearance anyway). You can use the others for lunges, yes, squats, deadlifts - anything that makes you engage your muscles on a wobbly surface but always go lighter in weight than you normally would. You can do great ab work on these, push up work too. The BOSU was the most expensive thing for me. You might want to check out the Reebok core board - they don't make them anymore but you can do so much with them, and you can adjust the amount of wobble too.

Thanks, Shana! That's great feedback. I'm leaning toward the Xerdisc, because as you indicate, it seems there is more that can be done with it.

Be sure you get two. I got one to start with and then couldn't find one to match exactly but was finally able to get two that almost match and are very similar so they feel about the same in use. With two, you can do cool push up variations, have one foot on each for some leg work (probably body weight only or very light weight), etc.

I just saw that Spri has a new xerdisc. It's double-sized (24" across) so you can do two legged things on it. Hmm, decisions, decisions.
