Bad news for me

I's so depressed. I just found out that the camp where my Prader-Willi syndrome son went last year had a fire in the cabins and there won't be any camp this year. This is the only break we get from his full time care. That means no beach, camping or vacation of any kind for us this summer. If we can't find a sitter for the Cathe weekend, my DH won't be able to come along and lounge around the pool. If I sound sorry for myself, I am. Boo hoo for me.

Robin I am so sorry. Have you told your son? If so, how is he handling it? I know how kids get in the routines and they don't like these changes. Where was the camp? Have you checked out Camp Victory in Millville? They may have something available for your son.

Once again I am sorry for your bad news and I hope that you can find something so you can at least get a little break.

Dana - I will look into Camp Victory, although I think maybe we would be familiar with it if it was suitable. He went to Keystone Camp Pocono near Scranton. There are camps in North Carolina and Ohio, but they are all booked. Tristan doesn't know yet. He'll be upset initially, but will get over it pretty quickly. He likes camp, but we all love camp. I know it sounds pretty darn selfish, but we really need a break from him.

And don't worry about feeling sorry for yourself. We all deserve a little self pity from time to time, & I've certainly done it for much less.

Robin I'm going to ask my supervisor if she knows of any other camps in Pa. I work for the Spec Ed Director at Danville School District and my boss is full of knowledge. LOL. If she knows of any I"ll let you know.
