I just celebrated the 44th annual junk food feeding frenzy and sugar orgy, and I don't regret it for a second! I baked myself a cake, ate everything I wanted at Silver Dollar City, and basically indulged every whim I've had since the last feeding frenzy at Christmas time. It took three days to get it all in, and I was sick as a dog for a couple of days, but I've already got almost all the weight back off, and I don't regret a single second of it. I'm ready, now, for the next round of clean eating (until Thanksgiving).

I used to never, ever, ever take a day off (for something like three years), but I've lightened up a lot since then, and it's working just fine for me (this time). I'm past the five year mark for my weight loss and still maintaining, and even starting to lose a little again finally.

I give exercise the credit. That's something I never did when I was yo-yoing. But I finally found an activity I truly enjoy (cycling), learned to tolerate and at least enjoy the effects of the weights etc., and I actually look forward to getting back to eating clean and exercising after a jag like this.

I am finally starting to indulge a little more myself. I did Weight Watchers and lost 25 pounds and have maintained for it for 2 years. I usually eat clean 6/7 days of the week and even then, I don't really indulge in something I really like (i.e., instead of a piece of chocolate cake, I would indulge in 2 servings of apple sauce for dessert....yeah!).

Sugar really is my down fall and the only sweets I keep in the house are applesauce and graham crackers. When I totally NEED sugar, I try to get as "natural" as I can with the applesauce and graham crackers and most of the time use the serving size. I never bake and my husband doesn't eat sweets, so I could totally eat an entire cake by myself! When we are out, and I would like something sweet, I indulge in it more often and I just don't care what the scale says...it just gives me more opportunities to workout with Cathe! In all honestly, you only live once, and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really take that long to lose whatever you have gained from your indulgence once you're back to clean eating (at least for me) .

You're not weird...that indulgence saves you from binging on so many things that you might eat to replace the one thing you truly want, so I believe it is good to indulge once in a while for something that is worthwhile (for example, rather than tryng to maintain healthy eating by consuming 15 rice cakes, eat the snack size pack of potato chips which is what you really wanted in the first place). In the end, you will probably save calories and you will be more satisfied!
