Bad Back and Weight Creeping Up Quickly

Hi Educated Crowd:

I am sitting here all annoyed at my current situation. On Saturday, I pulled some muscles in my lower back carrying sheetrock and have been in a lot of pain ever since. I have not been able to work out, although I have been walking and this morning I used an old,low impact Kathy Ireland video. Despite this, my scale says I have already gained 3 pounds! What gives? How could this be possible?

Besides the lack of working out, what else has changed in 4 days? Have you been drinking as much water as you would if you worked out? Are you eating properly (that means cutting down a little)? Is it that time of the month?

I had surgery a month ago & haven't been able to work out. Normally, I gain weight very easily (look at food & gain easy!), but having made sure I kept up my water intake, cut down on my food intake & knowing what time of month it is, my scale has only moved 1.5 lbs.

I know it's not much help but don't get discouraged. Take care of your back.
 
Hey Linda! I think the Goddess is right on about the water. I have been out of the working out game since Sept 22, watched what I have been eating but drinking tons of water and getting a brisk walk in about 3 to 4 times a week. I am very happy that I have not gained anything! I still have not been cleared to lift anything, not even a basket of clothes and it is driving me crazy...but you got to do what is right for your body....heal. I bettcha anything you just need to up that water intake. It cannot be "real" weight gain. Take care, Donna.
