Back in S&H

WantFit

Cathlete
I did Back segment in S&H three days ago. I have questions about DB Row & DB Pullover.

I thought it supposed to work on my back muscle. But the next day, I did not feel any sore in my back, lat. I felt my back of arm, it is sort of tricept area but not exactly the same muscle I felt sore when I did tricept kick back and lying tricept extension. However, today, I did feel some sore in the back muscles which are right next to spine area. Did I do anything wrong?

Thanks

It sounds like you either need to strengthen your triceps more or you're not fully concentrating on pulling with your back muscles. With rows you want to keep your shoulder blades in constant retraction and then really squeeze them at the top of the movement. With the pullovers it's easy for the triceps to take over, they are actually worked quite a bit automatically, I've found that I really need to concentrate on my lats when I do pullovers. The soreness you felt today sounds like it was from the rows, which targets the rhomboids, so that's good. You may want to lighten up on the weight a little, and see how you feel the next day.

HTH :)

The rows wouldn't work your triceps, but the pullover can call them into play. I feel pullovers in my triceps when doing a workout that has a gazillion of them, but not in S&H or other heavy, lower rep workouts. Pullovers are one of those exercises where you have to concentrate on where the move is coming from, as it can involve back OR chest (and with chest, more triceps).

(FYI: Only one "t" in "tricep/triceps" ...no "t" in "bicep/biceps").

Thanks, CurlyQ and Kathryn >^. .^<

I will try to focus on the squeeze in the back and shoulders when I do them next time. Maybe I would go lighter to get the feeling of it, and practice a couple times.

Kathryn, thanks for point out my spelling errors. I pretty screwed them up recently ;( since I ran short of time. Hope this time I did not make any mistakes.;)

By the way, I got my Urban Rebounder Gym version last night. I tried it this morning. I followed the "First Timer" dvd which came with it. I love it. Only 15 mins, I already had sweats.
