I have been doing power hour and maximum intensity strength for about 6 weeks usually 3 times a week and still can't get rid of back fat. I never worked out with weights and don't know if I'm doing the right workout to tone and firm my upper body. Can someone help?:) :)

Hi Linda,

Cardio! Cardio! Cardio!

You said you're doing weights but they can only take you so far in the battle of the bulge. You absolutely must do cardio to burn off the fat and show the muscle you're working so hard for. Don't get me wrong, weightlifting burns calories, but weights alone cannot give you the body you want.

Cathe has tons of cardio options to choose from: step, hi/lo, kickboxing, etc. Add some of that to your routine. And don't forget to eat clean!

When the ladies are right, they're right. The good news is you probably have killer back muscles just waiting for their day in the sun:D

I beg to differ. Cardio all you want but diet is key. I know, 'cause I've been there , done that. Clean eating, small, fequent meals get what you're looking for.

Continue to do weight and lift as heavy as possible for the back exercises. However, you need to increase your cardio and focus on complete clean eating while you work on this targeted area. After I gave birth to my second child, I lost all but 10 pounds within a few months with exercise and good eating. Then I noticed a had developed a small roll in my back which is something I never had. I wasn't sure what to do to get rid of it. I do recall focusing on not eating ANY junk food---and I mean no sweets, chips, ice cream, etc---I ate whole wheat, etc for at least 45 days. When you eliminate the bad food from your diet---that is when the 'fat" starts to drops from the unwanted areas of stomach, back and thighs. It worked for me. I no longer have a roll in my back and it has been 2 years. Just my 2 cents worth.

I second Luna, Shelley and Mattea.

Also want to mention that, until you get there, get rid of any bras that are thin in the back. My What You Wear Can Change Your Life book or whatever it's called says that most women have back fat, and the worst bra you can wear is a tight thin one that curls up and turns itself into a back-fat strangler that makes your back fat look twice as big. The bra should have wide panels under your arms and around the back that smooth out back fat and make it a lot less obvious under clothes.
