Baby Dylan has arrived!!

Hi everyone, I have not been online for awhile because the little guy arrived on Sept 24 at 12:55 pm. I have a couple of minutes (he is asleep) so I will share my birthing story.

I had false contractions from week 32. At my 37 week check I was dilated to a 3 and very soft. Then at 38 1/2 weeks my water broke. After weeks of lots of contractions now I had none! It was 1 in the morning and even though I knew we needed to get to the hospital there was no urgency. I packed up the kids and took them to a friends then we went in. I finally started getting some contractions but they were just the same as the ones I'd had all along. Not too strong or painful.

My Doctor checked me at about 7 am and I was at a 4 - still no real contractions. He wanted to start pictocin (sp?). I got an epidural at the same time as he started the pict. By the time the real contractions started I was feeling nothing. The dilation went pretty slow and he was not born until 12:55 that day. I only pushed about 5 times. However, his heart rate keeping dropping drastically each time I pushed. So the Dr. had me push every other contraction. Dylan Jay Florence was born a healthy 7 lbs, 6.5 oz and 20 inches long. He is very beautiful and scored a great 9.9 on the apgar tests. All in all I'd say this was my easiest delivery. The epidural guy is my hero!

It was kind of a shock to get home and find that I was really sore and tired. It did not seem that difficult but I forget that just because I was feeling no pain does not mean that my body was not working hard. I'm now about 2 1/2 weeks post partum and feeling much better. I lost 20 lbs so far and still have 24 to go. I definately want to join the post partum check in group! I have started walking a little bit and want to start upper body weights. Is it too soon?

Hi Debbie!
Congratulations on your little guy. I am glad everything went so well for you.

I started easy workouts at 3 weeks post partum. This last week I felt so good that I really picked up the pace. I think that if you just listen to your body like you do when you are pregnant, you should be okay. (but I am not an expert or anything:) )

take care and keep us posted!

Congrats on baby Dylan! That's awesome. Now you'll be able to enjoy Cathe's videos (when they're released) and be in tip-top condition by the time bathing suit season arrives. Hee Hee. Great APGAR score. I'm sure your enjoying the heck out of your new bundle of joy. Look forward to reading your progress on the postnatal updates.

Hi Debbie! Congratulations and welcome little precious Dylan! I'm thrilled for you and thanks for sharing your story. Most doctors like you to wait the full 6 weeks for your post partum check up before you begin working out as to let everything that was pushed and squished calmy come back down into place. You may want to call them and ask at the 4 week mark if just doing only light upper body work would be ok? Good Luck!

Congratulations Debbie and thanks so much for sharing your story!! I'm giggling at Cathe's description of letting everything that was "pushed and squished calmly come back down into place"....good to remember but Cathe.....how can you expect us to be patient when our Body Blast arrives, isn't this asking a tad too much. It's like waving candy in front of a child and making him wait six weeks to eat it....I just don't know if I can handle that kind of temptation.;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) !!!!!

Congratulations!! You lucky girl getting the epidural right away and not feeling those painful contractions, I'm jealous!! I hope my 4th baby comes into the world like that.

Enjoy that new baby. I agree with Cathe, I started working out too early with all 3 of my kids and ended up just bleeding heavily again and having problems. This time I'm gonna be a good girl and wait the full 6 weeks.

I hope you are getting some rest now.
