Ayn Rand

Wow, that's a big book. It sounds interesting. By my reading speed, it would take me at least six months to finish. Please post when you get to the end if it's worth the time investment. : )

So far it's been a page-turner, I started it today and I am 80 pages in. Even though it was published in 1957 it is eerily paralleling current events....and even recent posts to this forum.

I am fascinated and enthralled.
;)

Oh, I started reading that book and loved it. However, I had it checked out at the library and simply couldnt keep it checked out long enough to finish it.

I have thought about reading it again so many times. I believe it is required reading in a few college courses.

WEIRD!!!!

My husband and I have been discussing books that we've never read that we think we should, and "Atlas Shrugged" is number one on our list!

I actually had it in my hands the other day at Barnes and Noble, but put it down because I already had a stack of books not only in my hand, but on my bedside table that I need to read. So then I start reading "American Wife" by Curtis Sittenfield (a nice, easy summer read based loosely on the life of Laura Bush) and "Atlas Shrugged" is mentioned towards the beginning. I think I need to read it.

Sorry to rehash an older thread, but I just check book from library, it is a major page turner! Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh blech, I hate Ayn Rand! The paragraphs that run on for pages, the dry writing, the social darwinism & posessive individualism......it was the most poorly written, repetitive & boring book I've ever read in my life, not to mention I found the philosophy callous, insensitive & generally heartless. Yeah, people should just be cut loose if they're incapable of caring for themselves, big business should be completely unregulated so they can take advantage of those incapable of caring for themselves (read: AIG, Lehman brothers & pretty much all other mortgage banks), and laissez fare economics should be codified.

Wait, I just wrote Rand's entire 1100 page book for her in a single sentence. :D
