Awesome Community Event

Some very special people in my neighborhood put together a 5K to raise money for ocular albinism. Our neighbors have a son with OA (a condition I knew nothing about, but which greatly affects their vision). And some caring friends wanted to do something to raise money for equipment to help him and other children. This wonderful lady on my street headed-up the whole thing, and other neighbors volunteered many hours to make this event happen--and they did a wham-bang professional job! It was amazing!!!! The race was this past Saturday. It was so touching to be walking over to the community center (where the race was held), and see so many neighbors coming out their doors and up their streets to join in. It seemed like everyone came out to be there--either volunteering, racing, or cheering. This boy, Kru, ran the race with his father. It was so touching to watch them cross the finish line.

Anyway, it was a blast! And it was so great to see everyone come together like they did. The best finish belongs to one of our neighbors. The father was running with his 2-year-old twin boys in the double jogging stroller. Well, he ended up crossing the finish line with the twins, his 2 older daughters, and one of their friends (all who pooped out along the way and were added to the stroller). Yea for dads!

That's awesome! I've never heard of that either, but even if the cause doesn't especially affect you, I think these events importantly remind us just to think of others! Sounds like you have great neighbors :)
