Aweful dinner

A few weeks ago I asked for some quick recipe tips. A few people chimed in that my boyfriend should cook. Well tonight's dinner is the exact reason why I insist on cooking. Plus I like to cook. We had Spam. I have never eaten spam in my life so my boyfriend thought it would be fun for me to try. When he took the hunk of whatever it was out of the can, I almost got sick from the smell. I tried it and don't like it and will never buy it again. The dog ended up eating the rest of my dinner. He also suggested I try potted meat. Hmm... potted meat. That doesn't sound too apetizing.

Oh that is gross! You need to go back to doing the cooking. MY DH can't cook & I am sure I would be eating vienna sausage if he was responsible for dinner. Yuck..

Your post made me laugh.

bye

I heard they love Spam in Hawaii! So you can fly thousands of miles and eat Spam, BUT do it in 80 degree weather year round. ;-)

Just Do It! :7

OMG you made me laugh! SPAM? I didn't even know it was still alive. That certainly can't qualify in the "clean" eating category, unless clean means cleaning up the roadkill....

I'm feeling for you, but you're going to have to go back to cooking! hehe

RE: Awful dinner

Ick, you just brought back some terrible childhood memories. My mom was a big Spam user---she'd put it in baked beans (the canned kind). Disgusting. She also would make our milk "go farther" by putting in powdered milk and water, which turned me off of milk for years. Not ever Nestles Quick masked that gross powdered milk taste.:p

Reminds me of the famous "Spam Lamb" episode from MASH the television series.
The fact is, if ya wanna make a good meal and don't really know what the hell you are doing, like myself....you gotta put in the time and learn how.

Hey Beth,
Spam-YUK! My mom use to buy that many, many years ago and I could never stand it. You are right about that smell. That brought back some memories. I never heard of potted meat.

O-Oh ! I am having HORRIBLE flashbacks to school dinners (groan.....:p ). We used to get served up Spam Fritters (BLURGH !). A great thick slice of spam, deep fried in batter (DOUBLE BLURGH !!) - I think it was a nutritous meal idea of 1970s Labour Britain.
I suppose it kept us going during the war, if it wasn't for tinned spam, the UK might have starved :(

RE: Awful dinner

Did you grow up in our family? I hate milk to this day. AS for spam. I can't even go there. I had to chuckle when I read your post!
Oh, those childhood memories!:9

Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam
Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam....
(Monty Python's Flying Circus)

Are you sure he wasn't doing this to get out of having to cook in the future?

Back in High School, I had a home ec (that's what it was called then) class where we had to eat every bit of the stuff we made (nazi teacher). One day, we made these awful open-face spam sandwiches.

Actually, back in those days, I liked Spam, but those sandwiches were horrid!
