August Rotation Rest Day?

I completed week 1 of the August rotation and today was IMAX 3 on the program, which I modified a lot and skipped a lot and really wasn't a good workout today at all. Should I still take the rest day tomorrow or go to week 2. I feel great, I am not sore and I have energy. What do you think? I know it's quite a high intensity rotation, so I am not sure.

Hi Kristine,

First off go by how your feel, second how long has it been since you had a rest day? The main reason for rests days is to let your body catch up and heal any of the micro tears in the muscle that it hadn't got to yet. We all cause micro tears in the muscle fibers when we do intense weight lifting or intense aerobics. I generally don't like going more then 6 days of working out before a rest day. Just so my body can do it's thing even if it's not really telling me about it. But generally I like my rest days about every 5 workouts, as that's generally when my body does it's cycle thing (basically all those processes that make your weight bounce up and down like a yo-yo mine generally ends some time in day 6 and restarts, not always but in general) and I've notice a ton of improvement the next day after my rest day.

Also rest days help you to shock your system, so you can use it as another key to break a plateau if that's what your shooting for. I wouldn't push it for two weeks without a rest day, but going another day or so, probably won't affect you. But do take a rest day before the next one comes up, as even modified as long as it's intense for you, your doing some wear and tear on the body
