August, question for you

August,

I noticed on Christi's site you were telling her how much fun the Humble Beginning's 7002 was. I just was able to secure a copy from them and I was wondering if you like all three of the workouts on there. I know you just did it but did you preview them? How is the music and the choreography. I know I can just wait to get it but I am so excited because I wanted to get this one and then it was off the website but I e-mailed them and said they had an extra copy so I am so happy. Thanks for any info!!!

Hi Toni!

I think August is gone for the weekend and probably doesn't have access to a computer. You should bump this up again Sunday or Monday. :)

P.S. I can tell you that she seems to love all things Christi and we may have to consider some sort of disciplinary action over in the I Hate Cardio check-in. LOL!

Ha!!! Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I saw her posting on Christi's website and saw her here also so I thought I'd ask her how she like that one. Thanks, I'll try again next week.

Hi, Toni!

Michele was right on everything she said in her post. I was out of town. And I am having a MAJOR obsession with Christi Taylor. And I do need someone to help me get a grip or else I'll be doing Christi all day every day LOL.

First let me tell you - CONGRATULATIONS on getting one of the last copies of Humble Beginnings!!!!!! I totally saw your post on Christi's page and I honestly applauded when I saw that you were able to get one! A month or so ago when I was deciding on what to order, I saw that 'warning' "only blahblahblah copies left!" in red for Humble Beginnings, and I was all in a panic to get mine LOL. So I was so happy to read you got yours. You are going to LOVE it.

Now,.....you know when a friend tells you about a great movie he or she has seen, and they go into all this detail and you get all excited but when you finally go see it your expectations aren't met because your friend built it up too much.....well, I don't want to do that to you.........but.....OH MAN, you are going to LOVE it LOL.

I've actually been slapping myself for not buying every single workout of hers when I was in the States a number of weeks ago. I live in Japan and her company doesn't send internationally...but I'm getting some help with that issue, thank goodness : ) I'm definitely going to get them ALL.

Urgh, I love Christi's workouts.

Geez, I can't wait until you get it!! :D

Okay, so let me see here.... Humble Beginnings. I have done the hi-lo and step of 5004, and the step of 7002. I didn't preview any of them before I started. 5004 is fairly easy to catch on to, and the music is totally '80s synth-funk music, like something you might hear in Eddie Murphy's BEVERLY HILL COP. Hahaha, it's so geekish in the most wonderful of ways! It's a blast!

One tiny little thing...there's a background woman with big '80s blond, flouncing, bouncing hair that can get, well, erm, distracting (it's like, put that stuff in a bun or something!), but she's so into it that, well, I can forgive and forget the hair.

Oh wait, you didn't ask about hair LOL.

Anyway, 5004's choreography is fairly easy to catch onto the first time around and it's really fun and hot! There's a funky cool down that will make you feel like Michael Jackson. Or at least a poor man's Michael Jackson wannabe, heh ;) . It's super fun and something that after you get the hang of it, you'll want to dance it for your friends and make them giggle with envy.

7002 step - oh man, it's so fun, Toni. The step is placed so that it has its short end facing the camera. This one has a lot of funky '80s hip hop break dance-type steps. There's one move where she does what she calls "cabbage-patch arms" or at least I think that's what she says, though I have no idea why they'd be called that, but it's that funky arm move where you look like you're churning a huge tub of butter. It's a RIOT and I CANNOT get enough of it.

Oh, hey, I'm just taking a look at it right now and I'm now noticing that the blond woman is here and she has her hair in a ponytail! Haha, I've done this workout a bunch and didn't even notice she was in it. I guess I'm always watching Christi.

Geez, watching it while I write this makes me want to do it now (but it's midnight where I am). I NEED HELP! LMAO.

I've just had so much fun doing these (and Cardio Collectibles) that I haven't even broken out my other ones (and yet I'm already getting ready to buy the rest of her workouts). I can't wait to master the moves and then move on, and then start mixing things up.

Tell me what you think of the workouts when you get them! YAYYYY!!!!

Oh, by the way, there are 3 workouts, but probably because of the length of them and not being able to put them on one DVD, they are split up into the hi-lo workouts on one disc, and the step ones on another, so it actually feels more like there are 6 workouts, since they put the warm-ups, cool-downs and stretches on all the individual workouts.

If you ever want to talk Christi, you know where to go. :)

Later!

August,

Thank you so much for the in-depth play-by-play.;) Really, thanks a lot. You have really made me excited about getting this one. I used to look at clips of Christi's stuff on Collage but was too afraid to get them because I was so into Cathe. But I wanted to spice things up a little and I noticed a lot of threads about Christi. So I found Totally Cool Step at the library, did it, and was immediately hooked. So now I am just buying them up. I don't mind that Humble Beginnings is dated. Some of Cathe's are too but just because they are old doesn't mean they aren't good! I am so excited to receive this now that I heard all the good stuff from you. I'm sure it is as great as you say although I know what you mean about people pumping stuff up and then not being so great. But anything by Cathe or Christi I can count on being great.

Also, congratulations on being a cardio convert!!! Isn't it great when you can find something that can really motivate you, make you have fun, and want to work out. That is why I love the two of them. You can't help but want to get off the couch and get moving.

I'll have to look out for the blond lady you are talking about. I'm sure I'll probably trip over myself when doing the workout from looking at her and remembering what you said!

I don't have Cardio Collectibles YET but I'm sure it will be in my collection soon!

Well, take care and thanks for the heads up. Yeah I am so excited that Christi found a copy for me. I was e-mailing back and forth with Tamee. She is so great too. Everytime I have a question or request, she is so fast and on the ball. The two of them are a great team. I give them a big applause for the great customer service and great workouts.

Yeah, now I know who I can go to about Christi workouts too. Keep me posted on when you do the other ones you have. Thanks!

Hi, Toni,

Well, thank goodness for libraries, eh? :)

I found Christi totally by mistake. I actually got a compilation DVD of hers for a weight-lifting workout and was sort of BUMMED (?!?!) that it came with a hi-lo and a step workout on it. Cardio-hating me figured I would just ignore that they were even there LOL. The DVD came, I tried the weight-lifting workout, for whatever reason it somehow just didn't click with me on that one day I tried it, and I ended up putting the entire DVD away in the back of my closet out of site. That was like 2 YEARS AGO! What a dope! 2 YEARS AGO!!

Then desperate for a change in cardio, I pulled it out, dusted it off and tried the hi-lo once and was completely hooked. Yes, yes, me, a cardio convert!! I literally cannot for the life of me believe it. I've always disliked cardio and have a bunch of other cardio workouts that I always hated doing and forced myself to do...then I found kickboxing and really liked it....but now with step and hi-lo, I'm completely head-over-heels (figuritively speaking, LOL.)

I saw your collection list over at Christi's and it was impressive. You have a bunch of the ones I lamely didn't buy YET...! I'm glad to hear that Christi has good staff over there. That's always a major bonus.

Anyway, have fun and I look forward to talking Christi again some time!
