August Jogglers 2012

No beach vacation for us this year. :( I don't mind being home though and it beats being at work. We will get our money back (the majority of it). I have already contacted the insurance company and will sign the claim forms tomorrow and then email them the information. It will be like getting free money!!

I don't think we will be impacted by the storm that much. The rain started this afternoon but it has been light and not very frequent and really no significant wind to speak of at the moment. That may change but I think they are only forecasting about 20-30 mph winds.

Saturday I did the 10.5K race. It was my third time doing it and I get a PR for the course. I didn't feel great running it, just tired but I'm glad I set a PR for the course. I did over 2 minutes better than last year. I also got 3rd place in my age group and got a nice homemade clay medal. It's much nicer than last year.

On Sunday I race 6 miles and then ran intervals with my sister. Today I worked in my mom's yard for a couple of hours and then we were lazy and read, ate lunch and played cards so vacation has been good.

I am working out tomorrow because I haven't been eating healthy and I feel like a big blob.

Tricia ~ I hope you feel better soon. I get that every once in a while and I know that it's very painful. It just has to work itself out.

Alisha ~ I hate getting blisters. I hope it heals soon!

Today will be another yoga day. My left heel is still, well, healing from my blister. So, no shoes. I may break out the hula DVD. That one is a lot of fun. Tomorrow should be a Cathe workout.

Alisha

I am planning on doing a 5 mile run/walk with a Leslie Sansone dvd. Its ttotm and I don't feel like running outside. I am fighting the new washer, the clothes aren't rinsing properly, I'm having to rinse them a second time. So, my workout clothes weren't ready this morning in spite of my best efforts.

Tomorrow will be a rest day. I have a seminar on 'How to handle conflict'. I have found these kinds of classes to be really helpful. I wasn't born with great conflict resolution skills. I wasn't one of the popular kids in school. I'm trying to grow a backbone. I might go for a clothed drawing class. They models will be in full fancy dress.

Jane-Great job on your PR!! Yard work always qualifies as exercise.

Tricia- Hows it going?

Alisha

Hi ladies!

Alisha - How was your hula workout? I love anything hippie, as in using the hips! I've got a lot to use there! ;)

I've never been good with conflict either. Hope the seminar will be helpful!

Jane - I hope you're enjoying your days off at least! Glad you're not getting much from Isaac!

I'm doing okay. Work is very busy and it makes the days difficult with my neck hurting so much. It was feeling better yesterday, but I had a bad night and kept waking up all tense which made it hurt more today. I forgot to take some Advil this morning and had to suffer until I could come home at lunch. It's starting to move up and out since it's no longer affecting my back and my arm isn't aching much anymore. The neck is bad though now and I'm hoping this means it's going to work its way out more quickly than usual. I have golf tomorrow and hope I'll be okay for that because I believe it's going to be one of the last chances we get to play this year in the evening as it's geting darker earlier now.

No workouts yet. I'm guessing I'll at least be able to do cardio by the weekend. Weights will have to wait (I made a funny!) until next week.

That's about it for me.

Have a great night you two!

Hope you ladies are enjoying a beautiful weekend!

My back and neck are improving and I should be going again on Monday. Had some aching and pain while doing dishes this morning, so I think I need another day or two. Tough not to use the upper back and neck muscles even in a cardio workout. At least I'm not on tons of Advil anymore!

I did an oldie but a goodie this morning: Kathy Smith's Fat Burning workout. Its a combination of cardio and body weight toning. I plan to get some yoga this evening. Tomorrow will be a hike.

I took the last three days off for ttotm. I was feeling lousy.

On Thursday I went to my seminar, then in the afternoon I went to a job fair, and in the evening I went to a Pompsicle drawing session downtown. That evening my health went downhill, I caught some sort of bug, and it made my IBS flair up. I am back on low carb, watching what I eat, taking my own food everywhere. I'm just a tad delicate. Yesterday, I went to a MacNexus mtg. about 'security' on my computer. Today, I am going into town for a very geeky lecture on the archetypes in Lord of the Rings at the library.

Tricia- Thats a good funny: weight, wait, don't tell me! I hope your neck is feeling better today.

Jane- How was your race?

Alisha

Sorry that you had IBS issues! That had to be miserable! Glad you're starting to feel better! I like geeky! Where do you find these things? No one does anything interesting around here. Guess I should hang around the library more often, though I doubt there'd be anything of interest to me. People are very boring here. Too ethnic and not very, what's the word I want . . . educated, intelligent, geeky, nerdy, etc. Oh, well.

My neck is about the same, but my mobility is still really good. I'm going to just have to live with it and do my thing at this point. It is just going to take some time to completely work its way out. At least I'm off the drugs and can sleep now!

Jane - Hope you're enjoying the last of your freedom before heading back to work!

We didn't get up early enough to head out to the golf tournament today. Planning on going early tomorrow morning. We have free tickets, so figured why waste them! I'll let you know how it was. They won't let you take any bags or cameras with you. I can't believe you can't take a bag with water or food. Guess they expect everyone to spend a fortune on stuff there. Not! Oh, well.

I did a Salsa dvd and 10 min. of Shiva Rea yoga. I am going to a book club mtg. tonight. I will do a workout tomorrow, I don't know what kind.

Tricia- I am glad that its starting to feel better and you don't have to be on drugs anymore. I find things to do on meetup. I belong to the SacGeeks Calendar, Harry Potter Book Club, and Sacramento Nature Photographers.

I figure that I won't ever get a job sitting at home on my butt, on snagjob or monster. I think that 'hr' is a farce. Its a joke. Real jobs are found by knowing people and having skills, not one or the other. I need a job, so I go out a lot. I have no idea where i will find the right job. I just know that I won't find it at home.

How was golf?

Jane- Did you get a workout today?

Alisha

I went for a hike/jog this morning and then I did 25 minutes of yoga. I will do another workout tomorrow, I won't know what until I get there.

Alisha

I'm sorry I have been MIA. I have been on vacation and the routine went out the window.

I had a great week off. I would have rather been at the beach but it was nice not having to work and relaxing for a week. I'm now back at work. :(

I managed to workout almost every day despite eating lots of crap. It was good crap but crap just the same. I can't remember all that I did but I did run 11 miles on Sunday and yesterday I did the Spartan 1500 which was 100 reps of 15 different exercises. Brutal!! I'm feeling it today and will take a rest day today.

Tricia ~ I'm glad your neck is better.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you are feeling better as well. You are very smart and getting out there and mingling. Job hunting is not what it used to be. I remember being able to send out tons of resumes and getting called for interviews almost all the time. I remember my Aunt telling me that after WWII, she would start a job on Monday, quit on Friday and start on new job on the following Monday - that was the job market.

I forgot, its September

And here I am, still posting on the August thread!!! Sheesh, I just am not getting with it these days.

Ok: New thread, new thread, new thread.

Jane- Good job on your workouts. Don't worry about the extra eats, it was a vacation, you don't do it all the time. I keep crossing my fingers about the 'job market.'

That reminds me, I should look for a job, and maybe work on a skill today as well.

Alisha
