RE: Attention Sarah aka
I love soy yogurt (although I think legally it has to be labelled "cultured soy" b/c there's no dairy in it). It's delicious mixed with fruit and little cinnamon and or vanilla. I go with the plain and mix my own stuff with it, as the fruited can be WAY high in sugar. If you like the taste of unflavored soy milk, then chances are you'll like soy yogurt. The texture is pretty much the same, maybe a little smoother and thinner, and a little less "tart" than plain yogurt.
Actually, it's way cheaper and easier to make your own if you can snag some plain soy yogurt and plain soy milk. You can use plain dairy yogurt as a starter if you're not too concerned about the vegan issue.
If you start with all unsweetened soy products it's much lower in carbs and higher in fiber than regular yogurt, and a little lower in protein, think, the 6-9 grams rather than 10-14, unless you can get your hands on some powdered soy milk and add than it.
I can recommend Silk, White Wave, and O'soy brands. Try the O'soy kinds that Stonyfield farms makes first to see if you like it. They are overly sweet, but come in a small 6pack of connected containers so the sugar level in one serving isn't astronomical. These are more readily available, heck, even my walmart has these.
Good luck,
Mattea
