Attention Sarah aka "Ima"....

Tamster

Cathlete
I just wanted to thank you for the yogurt recipe....

plain fat-free yogurt w/natural PB and a dash of splenda...

I have been living on it since last week. It is so delicious! Do you have any other fast, healthy snacks in your back pocket?

RE: Attention Sarah aka

So glad you like it!!! I have to stay away from it for awhile because it was ALL I was eating!LOL!!

Plain yogurt mixed with a scoop of protein powder and vanilla extract is also DELICIOUS!!!

Sometimes I'll take some Kashi Go Lean, lightly spritz it with spray butter and dust with Splenda. Reminds me of Rice Krispy Treats!! Yum Yum...when I need something sweet, this always does the trick!!

RE: Attention Sarah aka

Thanks Sarah....guess I have to go buy some protein powder...LOL!

The faux rice krispy treats sound great too...

Thanks,

Tammy

RE: Attention Sarah aka

Does adding the splenda really make it taste better? I cannot eat yogurt because I hate the taste. But I know it's good for us so maybe I'll try this. Kali

RE: Attention Sarah aka

does anyone know if there is soy yogurt? i can't seem to find any!

RE: Attention Sarah aka

Yes, there is such a thing as soy yogurt - I know Kroger sells it in the health foods section. And health food stores would sell it too. I can't seem to find plain soy yogurt - just flavored. But I'd probably have better luck if there was a health food store nearby - they would have plain for sure.

RE: Attention Sarah aka

I bought soy yogurt ONCE. It was disgusting. I'd rather eat wall paper paste.

RE: Attention Sarah aka

That's actually good to know, as I haven't actually tried soy yogurt yet. What's so gross about it? Taste, texture, etc?

Does anyone know the nutritional stats for wallpaper paste? ;)

RE: Attention Sarah aka

I love soy yogurt (although I think legally it has to be labelled "cultured soy" b/c there's no dairy in it). It's delicious mixed with fruit and little cinnamon and or vanilla. I go with the plain and mix my own stuff with it, as the fruited can be WAY high in sugar. If you like the taste of unflavored soy milk, then chances are you'll like soy yogurt. The texture is pretty much the same, maybe a little smoother and thinner, and a little less "tart" than plain yogurt.
Actually, it's way cheaper and easier to make your own if you can snag some plain soy yogurt and plain soy milk. You can use plain dairy yogurt as a starter if you're not too concerned about the vegan issue.
If you start with all unsweetened soy products it's much lower in carbs and higher in fiber than regular yogurt, and a little lower in protein, think, the 6-9 grams rather than 10-14, unless you can get your hands on some powdered soy milk and add than it.
I can recommend Silk, White Wave, and O'soy brands. Try the O'soy kinds that Stonyfield farms makes first to see if you like it. They are overly sweet, but come in a small 6pack of connected containers so the sugar level in one serving isn't astronomical. These are more readily available, heck, even my walmart has these.
Good luck,
Mattea

RE: Attention Sarah aka

Could you post your recipe using plain yogurt and PB one again? I would like to try it. Thx.

RE: Attention Sarah aka

I just add natural peanut butter and splenda to plain yogurt. I don't really measure anything out. Maybe 1 cup yogurt, 2TBS natural peanut buteer and Splenda to taste....

I usually just add the peanut butter and Splenda to taste. if I need more of one then I add it.
