Athletic shoe recommendations?

Hey, guys! I am going to have to get a new pair of cross trainers in August, and I'd like your recommendations as to a good brand for step, kickbox, powerwalking and hi/lo - something that keeps its impact absorption for a long time and provides good ankle and lateral support.

Any recommendations, or directions to other threads here, would be welcome!

Thanks!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-24-02 AT 09:13AM (Est)[p]Hi Annette!

I'll be shoe shopping soon too. I like Reebok DMX shoes. They're very cushiony for all the high impact stuff. I can't remember the specific style name of the pair I have now - DMX "power" something. They've lasted a good while and were comfortable from the get-go. A little pricey at $90 but IMO worth the $. My problem is (as with clothes) finding my dang size. I wear a 5 1/2 or 6 which I think is a pretty common size but apparently not. I also prefer mid to high cut for ankle support so that narrows my choices even more. Try the websites for Sports Authority and Footlocker. You usually get a bigger selection than going to the actual store. I've ordered from both and they both have excellent customer service.

Happy Shopping!

Hi Annette!

I also like Reebok's DMX shoes. Doesn't matter which one. I've had two and at first you can actually feel a little air cushion or something in the ball of your foot. It doesn't feel funny, just nice. I got my most recent pair at www.penniesonthedollar.com for $35. I also have a hard time finding my size (11). I would definitely pay more if I had too. They are great shoes.

I got a pair of Avia crosstrainers for about $29.00, and they are just fine. I went to D!ck's Sporting Goods.

RE: Thank you all!

Thanks for your responses! I may have to hit the stores this weekend - or the online catalogs! (Isn't it easy to go broke staying fit?)
