Ask the NFL to suspend Michael Vick!!!

thanks for the link. he and his brother are always headlines at our news channel. many viewers have called and emailed to complain about this b/c even bad publicity is good publicity to these guys. as long as there name is in the news they are making out.

his brother was charged with giving minors alcohol but got a slap on the wrist. its jsut sickening to think what these big names are getting away with. and this is the most sickening of all.

Thank you for the link, I just sent a very stern email message.

While I have been a fan of Michael Vick (since he ALMOST ended up here in San Diego!), my respect for him is lost because of his association with such a cruel pass-time.

He has such a huge influence over many people and I hate when people with that much power think that they are above the law or above a certain moral standard.

Just sickening.

Delfin, thanks for the link. UGGHHH these people just chap my a$$!
x( I can't even think straight right nowx( I have passed this link as well.

I saw the news story on CNN last night and even my DH was crying for the poor dogs and how they were treated. What's worse is that some other NFL players were defending him. I'm just sick that anyone could treat anything like that. Pits are good dogs for the most part - but of the 52 dogs that were taken from the property most will have the be put to sleep because they have fought and cannot be trusted.

you know its amazing they get millions to be stupid and play ball. there are some that play and do good in the world but that never gets on TV x( , instead the ones that make the whole NFL look like boneheads do. they need a better publicity agent for sure.

Suspend him? I think he should suffer the same fate he inflicted on those poor animals!! I think the NFL needs to come out strong on this and make a statement to all the players. I am so sick of these criminal prima donnas!! I live in NY and someone here just did something similar with what was probably a "losing" dog. A young pit bull was found - someone had tied this animal to a tree making it defenceless, then poured gasoline on him and set him on fire!! He lasted a few days, but died of his injuries yesterday. The ASPCA is offering a $5000 reward to the provider of information leading to the arrest of the a**** who did this. Things like this just make me believe the human species is devolving. It makes me dizzy, I get so upset by this. I for one am emailing the Falcons that I will never watch or attend one of there games again until they fire Vick and make a public statement on this matter. Let's hope that the NFL commissioner can behave not like a coward and come out against this, as well.

It's terrorism against animals! When I hear what people do to them, I can't help but think that the human species is devolving, too. With all the evil in this world, I shudder for the future of my girls... and all of nature, too.

Thanks fof the link. I agree...a suspension isn't enough I think they should permanently ban him from the NFL(of course, I realize that won't happenx( ). I am completely disgusted by this story. What a horrible 'human being.'

My only hope is that enough people are disgusted by this behavior that something is done to stop such horrendous treatment of our fellow creatures.

I don't want him suspended. I want him jailed, fined, and banned permanently from the NFL. I would also like to see his picture published everywhere with a notice about just what he did. Just what legal charges is he facing if any?

The new football commissioner is one tough cookie. He has a take no prisoner philosophy that I like.

Vick is toast.

Some big NASCAR guy was just picked up at our local theme park with heroine and he is never allowed to touch NASCAR again...EVER!! Why the double standard??? Why is Vick most likely going to get a slap on the wrist...even with a tainted past (ahem...no athlete makes it through Miami airport with wacky weed, you numb nut). He should have to face the criminal charges (that he BETTER get) and be banned from entering a football stadium for life! Heck, Pete Rose can't enter a stadium for gambling...GAMBLING!!! (Yes, he was wrong, but it's not the same. Gambling isn't cruel and inhumane)\

These athletes need to be held at a higher standard. If they are going to be roll models for our youth then the NFL needs to make sure they are squeeky clean and if they are not...they are out! But it will NEVER happen. Why? $$$$$$$$ And they want to win. Who cares that they are scums of the earth, as long as they make the playoffs!

I'm done b!tching...

I see nothing wrong with athletes making the money they do...they bring in the audience and the revenue, hell, give them the money.

BUT, what really pisses me off, is when someone like Mike Vick shows real talent for the game, goes to school, gets out, makes that kind of money, and, for some unknown reason, doesn't do a damn thing to better himself. Instead of distancing himself from the monsters and losers in his life, he seeks them out, and uses his money in one of the cruelest ways possible. As if the dog-fighting wasn't bad enough, the manner of killing dogs that he deemed useless because they weren't good fighters proves how low he and his cohorts really are: they found entertainment in killing them outside the ring, too.

The only good that may come from all this is that it will crack open just how wide-spread dog-fighting is in this country. It's everywhere, and if municipalities don't do something about it because "it's just a dog," then they at least need to wake up to the fact that people involved in it are capable of ANYthing. And this crime carries more baggage...do they really think that the people involved in this kind of activity aren't breaking other laws such as drug dealing, firearms violations, etc.?

Okay, that's MY rant! And to think, as a person with ties to Virginia Tech, I actually liked this guy way back when. Enough... I hope he gets the maximum punishment possible, and if it's just to use him as an example, so be it.

"And this crime carries more baggage...do they really think that the people involved in this kind of activity aren't breaking other laws such as drug dealing, firearms violations, etc.? "

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very well put!

He's obviously a real sick-o. How could anyone do such horrible things? It's hard to just read about. I just keep thinking about how twisted he must be to choose to commit such cruelty to any living thing.

Do you know his contract is $130 million??? No criminal deserves to keep his job - we wouldn't be able to keep ours...Animal cruelty is also a precursor to domestic abuse and crimes against women.

Yesterday, after sending the email to the NFL commissioner, I did some research on the case so far. I printed out a copy of the indictment and read through all 20 or so pages of dogfighting activities that Vick and his goones were involved in...spanning from 2001 until April 2007. Fight after fight, dog after dog. It went on and on, even mentioning the names of the dogs.

The thing that gets me is that the purses for these fights were SOOO minimal. We are talking $2K, $5K..$10K. For someone that is one of if not THE highest paid athlete in the NFL it just seems so pointless. To me, it makes it that much more sickening. He clearly wasn't doing it for the money, but for the sheer sport of it all. Which makes me question his humanity or lack thereof.

I also came across another article where in 2004 he was charged with "knowingly" passing along genital herpes to a woman after he had just been treated (under an alias) for the ailment a week before.

He is just growing more and more disgusting to me by the minute and I hope this new commissioner does the right thing.

***keeping fingers crossed***

...and his younger brother, who was apparently also a good football player in college, is such a criminal that he blew his chance at an NFL career by getting busted for a number of illegal activities (I don't even remember what they were). Runs in the family. And I agree wholeheartedly - anyone who participates in this sort of "sport" and heinous activity, is clearly doing other illegal things (like taking drugs throught the airport). This is probably the tip of the iceberg for him. Funny, too - he always blames someone else. It was his brother's water bottle; this was his house, but he was leasing it to family/friends - he didn't know about these activities; blah, blah, blah!!! B.S. what an evil little child
