Cathlete
hey everyone! I usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving to start putting up Xmas stuff, but for some reason this year i can't wait that long!! Anyone else have the decorating itch?? :)

Oh yes, I am dying to decorate. I was ready right after Halloween! I already have a small fibre optic tree in the dining room. However, my mind is racing about where to put the big tree this year. All my stuff is in the attic still.

I am a little worried about the cat though. We didnt put the tree up last year because we went out of town. However, this year will be the cat's first Christmas tree and I hope he leaves it alone!

Love,

Madonna

We put up six trees inside the house, and beaucoup decorations, lights, etc. outside. We have to start right after Halloween or we would never finish in time!

Madonna - I have 3 cats and they've never bothered the Christmas tree. They really don't pay it any attention at all.

There's a house down the street that already has its Christmas lights up. I thought that was a little funny. This year we bought an artificial tree. I had fought the idea for years, but after paying $60 for a real one the last few years, we just couldn't justify the cost. Since we have the fake one, we'll probably put it up next weekend. I still have to hit Hallmark for this year's ornament!

I love decorating for Christmas!! I am especially excited this year because I was able to get the most beautiful Nativity!! I have wanted this one for several years, but each year that I put it in my cart I end up putting it back thinking "next year". Well, this time it stayed:) I got it about two months ago, and I have to say it was difficult not to put it up then:) The day after Thanksgiving it is going up. I have a whole outdoor nativity that we make a cool manger scene with wooden pallets, and I have a kneeling Santa that I love. So many memories tied up in these precious things and then when you start pulling out the ornaments! Oh Boy! I think the best part it that my whole family enjoys it, it is not just "mom's thing" but it is everybody loving it:)

I too have the itch. :) I'll start to put them up the day after Thanksgiving. This year I'm taking my 3-year old son to pick out the tree - we haven't done that before. (DH usually picks one up for me). Last year I made the gingerbread ornaments (cinnamon, applesauce and elmer's glue) and the dog took every one of them off the tree!!!

Carol, 6 trees??? That sounds awesome.

Let me be the first to say, "Merry Christmas everyone".

I do my Christmas decorating the day after Thanksgiving when everyone else hits the mall. I've been doing it this way for about 5 years now I really like it! Susan

This saturday:p My mom spends one day with each of her daughters (3 of us) helping us put up our Christmas decorations. She has the "magic" if you will. She knows how to do it with style. She's done this ever since I've been married, 16 years now. My daughters love having grandma over and it helps SOOOOO much!

To justify why I'm spoiled like this, my mother had breast cancer when I was three. She was not given a good outlook at the time. But she was lucky and they got it all and she's been on the go ever since. She says she's always so grateful she got to see us grow up and have children. She's about the most awesomest mom I could have ever asked for! Her mother had died of colon cancer when my mom was around 23.

Anyway, in the next day or two, I'll start dragging stuff out and put up as much as I can before she gets there.

Sami!

What a wonderful story. Give her the BIGGEST hug when she walks thru the door! How blessed you are! I lost my mom when she was only 43 to a car accident. I'd give anything to have her here (lost both my Dad & a brother at young ages too.) Your story brought a tear to my eye and a big lump in my throat. They are joyous tears and "lumps" for you! Have a great time on Saturday. What a wonderful family tradition.

RE: Sami!

I must be the only one that doesn't decorate til maybe 2 weeks before Christmas. I cannot stand to see the stuff that long. There are already people that have stuff outside and I'm sorry but that is way to early for me.

Rhonda

Wow! You guys amaze me! We usually don't put anything up until the weekend before Xmas! I got the "itch" but not the "time"! :) :)

Jo

NO, no itch here! We don't decorate until the kids break up for the Xmas holidays. And in the meanwhile I am steadfastedly ignoring all Xmas paraphernalia in the shops. It's way too soon for me.

Clare

Yep! I put my stuff out last Saturday. We finally got some nice and cool "winter" weather here in South Carolina and I guess it put me in the mood. I don't really have that much Christmas stuff to put out anyway. I've been playing Christmas music for about two weeks now. I'm really excited this year b/c I will be with my entire family for the first time in years. We leave on December 26! Myself, my husband, my grandma, mom, and dad, brother, and my sister and her husband and their 3 boys have not been together for a LONG time. I cannot wait to shower my 3 nephews with hugs and kisses from Aunt Gigi. Zach will be 6 on Christmas Eve, Spence is 4, and Drew is 1 and 1/2. We will celebrate Christmas together on the 28th(we don't actually arrive until the 27th).
