Just for fun! So many of us are hungry all the time before/after workouts that when you get a chance to get a bite to eat, do you devour the food or just nibble along?
I inhale my food and it's sooo bad for you to do that. I really have to think about it to slow down. I've always eaten fast. When I was in nursing school my classmates used to place bets on how long it would take me to eat lunch. I guess I'm glad I stood out for something. :7
I eat fast too. DH always looks over when he is eating the same thing with me at the same time, and I will be done before he is half way thru. I know it is bad too, but I can't help myself.
I'm a fast eater, and have had weight problems off and on forever. My dad is a slow eater and has NEVER had a weight problem - I'm sure that's why. He loves sweets, but he still never gained much weight. He would (and may still for all I know) spread butter on cookies before he ate them. And I mean lots of them - had the butter dish and the package of cookies like a little project on the table. Never ate them fast, rather he was very methodical about it.

I come from an italian family and there was always plenty of food but we always inhaled it...can't quite figure that one out
I actually have to make an effort to slow down when I eat with BF b/c I will eat up and he has just about gotten started. Now THAT is embarassing! I don' tmind as much at home but when we go out, I try to drink water more and slow myself down.
I am just the opposite of what most have said so far.
I eat so slow I do find it kind of embarrassing. I am always the last person to finish eating and people are sitting and waiting for me. The only positive side it that I usually realize I'm full before I've eaten all of my food.
Noelle, my DH is a slow eater too. I feel sorry for him in restaurants because the waiter/waitress always want to take his plate away before he's finished--he's always the last one done. LOL!!
I can't disprove your theory. I've always been a pretty healthy weight (unless you count about 10 extra pounds in college when I was drinking WAY too much beer!)
I am a slow eater. I am usually one of the last ones to finish. The only person I can think of that is slower than me is my three year old, and he would rather play with his food. LOL!
I'm a fast, focused eater. I too have to slow down and learn to enjoy it. I have a totally unscientific theory that the reason I eat so fast is because I after so many years of food issues and feeling guilty for eating, I just want to get it over with.
I also eat fast and, like Sparrow, it is because I just want to get it over with. I have never had a weight problem with the exception of needing to lose about 10 pounds since I've hit my 40s.
