Are we Fat!!!!!

Cathlete
You know it is driving me crazy lately
The eating , working out, the scale.
How do we really know if we are fat?

What is Fat????
What do we consider looking good.
Was Marilyn Monroe Fat?
Is JaLo fat?
Is Madonna Fat?

What is our perception of looking good?
Is curvy and velumptous beautiful?
Is Skinny and scrawny beautiful?
Is moderate and muscular Beautiful?

Is 145 too fat?
Is 110 too skinny?

What should we eat?
1200 calories
1500 Calories
1800 calories

Should we lift more weights or do more cardio?
Which is better?

Should we drink coffee?
Should we never have wine or beer?
Should we take suppliments?
Should we not eat a piece of cake ever?
Should we live on protien powder, soy milk, oatmeal and vegetables?

Why does the scale fluctuate so much?
Should we toss it?
Should we all be going crazy trying to figure it out?

Wht does X loose weight and stay at 110 ,and Y gain weight and weigh 150 on the same diet and exercise program?

Can someone please tell me how to just figure this all out????

What is Beautiful.
What is healthy?
What should we look like ?
What should we weigh?
What should we eat?
What workout should we do?

I for 1 am tired of trying to figure it out?????

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)

Strive to be your personal best...that's all you can expect of yourself. Don't try to be perfect...that is impossible...you'll make yourself crazy. Just do your best and be proud of your accomplishments.:+

Goodmorning, Anne. Great post to start the day with.:)

No, Marilyn Monroe was not fat. She was a sex symbol afterall. We don't have to be skinny as a runway model to be sexy. What we need to be is happy with life. Life Is Good. Ever see that on a T-shirt? I have a few. Life is too short to worry about every calorie you are eating. Life is too short to be weighing your food or yourself every day. Why put that added stress on yourself?

What we need to do is take a deep relaxing breath...inhale...exhale. Let's do it again. Inhale......exhale.

We are all beautiful in our own ways. We need to learn to love ourselves before other's can love us back.

Healthy is taking care of your body and the bodies of your children if you have them. Many of us were raised on the typical American diet of cheeseburgers and fries and all that encompasses. If we start with changing our eating habits from the processed-ready made crap that is sold in groceries and convienence stores, and make the change to cooking real food at home and eating a balanced diet...high in fiber (grains, fruits, vegetables), moderate in protein (meat, eggs, soy, beans) and low in sugar and fats, we can change the way the next generation eats and our children can be a much healthier race than we currently are. It starts at home.

There isn't any magic formula for finding happiness in life. You have to figure out what it is you need, not want, but need in life to be happy. Many eating problems are stress related; bad marriage/relationship, horrible boss at work, etc. etc. If you can remove any stressors that is the first place to start...including throwing out the bathroom scale.

We shouldn't be obsessed with food but many are. Food should be enjoyed, not looked at as a science experiment and we have to count points and weigh portion's. Educating ourselves as to what IS a proper healthy diet is the first step to empowerment. And most doctor's agree that 20 minutes of brisk walking is all the average person needs for exercise every day in order to keep your heart healthy. Those of us who are 'addicted' to exercise take that further and we work out to Cathe because we want alittle more out of life...we want to be buff!
:D

So just take a step back and do a little self analysis. Exercise, eating, and trying to be healthy shouldn't be complicated. It should be a natural way of living.

40something This is the BEST comment I've read in a month. I am usually like this however, I was getting down on my self for eating sweets more often than I should. Reading your reply put everything back into perspective for me. You are an angel today. :7

Anne,

I totally get your post. The confusion and the what should we do what shouldn't we do. Just recently Kathryn threw a new curve ball when she reported reading that too much exercise can make you fat! No harm meant by her but good lord where does a person go to find the real answers. Freestyle, heavy weights, more cardio no wait less cardo no wait more weights then cardio...OMG somedays I think my head will explode!

I say do what you think is best for your body. I for one know that I CAN lose weight with eating few calories. I also know that is not healthy as I am too small right now. SO I don't get the starvation mode thing, Hell it works for people is just isnt healthy.

I also know that the more I workout the easier I stay thin. Yes for me it is about thin. So I hope that doesn't make anyone mad. I have food issues and exercise issues and all the different reports add to my confusion.

I have to learn to do what I think is bes for me and not what i sbest for someone else. Just because person A lost 20 pounds by eating 2000 calories and then staggering does not mean that works for me.

Anyway sorry for the long rant but I wanted rto say I get what you mean!

Who are you allowing to define for you what "should" or "shouldn't" be something? The best thing to do is define it for YOURSELF!!

AMEN, sister!

I feel that we should all be responsible for our own health and fitness, and take what works for us and forget the rest.

And asking for advice on anything will give you results that work for A, B and C, but maybe not for you.

It takes some experimentation, but we can each find that balance (physical, mental, emotional) that makes us feel and be our best.

Sounds like someone is ready for a padded white room!;)

Seriously, I get what you are saying. The answer? It's all attitude! You're attitude. Turn on the t.v. and you will see women with rounder bodies singing on VH1 but their attitude screams "perfect and gorgeous"....and they are!

The best thing I ever did to stop my head from spinning was I started running...then "training". My nutrition, my workouts, my sleep patterns and relaxation techniques...all part of being in "training mode". The rest just falls into place.
