Aqua-Jock: about your knees....

I read with amusement your mish-moshes. I know there's no way in hell I'd ever survive one of them. My question is, how do your knees hold up from all that pounding? Have you had them replaced? Or, do you just have good genes (like Cathe) and can take whatever punishment is thrown at you? I want to know your secret. And if there are certain exercises you do to keep your knees from rebelling I think you owe it to the rest of us to let us know! After all, you are one of the queens of hi-impact!

TIA!:)

Hi, Leslie! Thanks for your kind words! No, I've never had any knee problems, and hi-impact does not seem to bother them. I should add, here, that as I write this I AM plowing through a foot-strain problem that was due to my not replacing my land athletic shoes quickly enough from all the mish-mosh pounding.

I attribute the lack of knee problems to: having a good mix of land training and reduced-impact-forces aqua training; having a good balance of leg strengthening that targets the hams AND quads, as well as abductors and adductors, so that there isn't an undue strength imbalance especially between the quads and hams; knowing how do to aquatic training so that the leg muscles are well-conditioned for flexion and extension as well as for impact absorption; and a good old dose of luck that I've never been in an accident.

Thanks again for your interest!
