AOS Providence

Okay, I finally did this workout for the first time about two hours ago. I thought it actually seemed kind of easy... until I was done and I had to work to get my rubber band legs up the stairs. With each passing minute I'm becoming more and more aware of just how severe the doms are going to be when the pain reaches it's pinnacle. The last time I tried KB it was a straightforward basic dvd from Target that I thought seemed almost silly-easy... until later. Don't know why I didn't think that would happen this time.

Oh. LOVED those Tactical Squats!

I like Providence, but find it a bit easy and always forward through the rests, or do jumping jacks or something similar.

I'm doing Newport tonight. It's my fave!

I had trouble squatting to sit on the toilet for at least 2 days after my first KB workout -- LOL!!

SSW:

TAKE ADVIL NOW BEFORE THE DOMS HIT TOO MUCH HARDER! :)

Ugh! you guys are making it impossible to resist... I have NO idea how I would sneak these into the house though! Where there's a will, there's a way!

I love Providence!! I actually do this one outside with my gymboss and add extra rounds that include jump rope, mountain climbers and burpees. Love it!!

I think many KB workouts are deceptive: they seem not so hard when your doing them (I think the breaks between rounds helps with that, as well as the fact that you are spreading the effort around the whole body, rather than doing isolation moves), but you can feel they've worked later.

Yes, those kettlebell workouts definitely sneak up on you! Like Shelley and Jane, I'll oftentimes throw in some jump-roping, burpees, etc. during the rest periods to make Providence a bit more challenging cardio-wise. :)

Is it weird to love that DOMS feeling??? to not be able to sit down to pee without wincing just a little??? I'm really thinking about Newport...but might wait until I get through STS

Newport is harder -- but in a good way!;) The moves are more challenging, and I always almost feel like I need the rests in between each round. Most of the rounds also have several exercises in them, instead of just one exercise per round, as in Providence. It's one of the hardest workouts I have (and also one of my favorites), and I always feel really accomplished after doing it.

I have the list of exercises in each round written out, so let me know if you're interested, and I can type them up.

Julie, it's weird of us to love DOMS, but don't they just hurt so good?! :p

Okay, how is Newport different (better?)? I've been wondering...

I just want you all to know I am now in excruciating pain. I had to use the handicaped stall at work today because I needed to hold onto the bar or God knows what would have happened! I work out six days per week, alternating full body weights/resistance with cardio and I'm thinking at least two of my weight workouts should be kettlebell for awhile. I need to get my body acclimated to kettlebell or I'll always be too sore to do cardio on the following day, which is a problem.

At first, I thought my arms got no benefit but I'm starting to feel the pain there now. Aside from the times I did Cathe's B&G (firewalkers, anyone?), I've never been more aware of of the existence of my butt cheeks. Oh ouch.

Okay, now I'm worried.....
I did The Empire State today with my 20# kb and I am already feeling it:eek:
I was feeling great doing the bonus round with Beth earlier(followed her) -now, not so sure.....

Not looking forward to tonight!!... or am I???;) Love DOMs!!

Hang in there - Stacey!!
