This is the sale for the day - 20% off and free shipping (64.95). I have ordered Providence - have never done KBs before. Is this something that would be of help or is the workout portion a duplicate of Providence? I remember reading here that Providence had been renamed but was basically the same as something that had already been done (at least I think that is what I read - it is too confusing!)

Hi Shana,

This is an instructional dvd not a workout. I don't have the dvd but it isn't a remake of Providence. It's more a tutorial on form.

HTH,

Jane -thanks. My confusion is that the website indicates this is a 2 disc DVD set, the second being a workout. Not sure what this would be. I am hoping that Providence is a good starting place!

Shana,

I just watched the trailer for the Instructional dvd and it is different that Providence. The Kettlebell Way, Volume I is the dvd that is a remake of Providence. Providence is a good starting point.

If you are looking for an instructional dvd that is less expensive that AOS you can try www.nofearfitness.com. Lisa Shaffer has a great instructional dvd and book. I have the book but not the dvd. The dvd is $29.95.

The second workout DVD is 2 workouts made especially for the set (called "Pinnacle" and "Elevation 2").

Elavation II:
round 1 : dead swing/sumo deadlift/swing
round 2: getup sit-up/chest press to half getup/Russian twists
round 3: clean and press ladder/alternating high pull to snatch/dead snatch
round 4: wave squat/single KB squat/one-legge deadlift

Pinnacle:
round 1: 1-handed dead swing/one-handed swing
round 2: one-handed dead cleann/long cycle clean
round 3: dead clean and press/long cycle clean and press
round 4: high pulls to snatch to half snatch to full snatch
round 5: dead clean to full suqat/long =-cycle squat/flip n' squat
round 6: windmill left and right/fuigure 8 to hold/hand-to-hand sumo deadlift

IIRC, you can choose the amount of rest you want between rounds, and choose whether to have the instruction for each round included or skipped

HTH

(PS: if snatches skeer you like they do me:p, you can always do a high pull instead;))

Ouch, my wrist!

Kathryn, I wear the wrist bands to protect my bony arms when I do Kettlebells. It really does help. But those snatches still are scary because I'm afraid I won't get it to stop at the top of the move and will keep going over behind me.

I have the AOS tutorial disk and have found it to be very useful in learning the form. I think that kettlebell workouts have a lot of potential for injury if done incorrectly, so I am studying form like I've never done for any other workout!

But I really love it! Thanks for all of your KB advice and input on various threads!

Thank you, Kathryn! Since I missed the sale, I will hold off on this one. I will, however, keep your descriptions for when I learn what the moves actually are - this will let me sort of do my own thing too :) Thanks again, to both you and Jane -

I wear thick tennis arm bands that I got at Walmart when I do any KB workouts that have the bell resting on my forearm (ie: not for just doing swings). Even though I don't bang my arm, I have boney wrists and forearms as well, and the pressure of the bell itself is uncomfortable without them.
