Anyone's dryer stop working?

Hi all,

My dryer still operates but it doesn't dry the clothes, the heat doesn't seem to be working. Before I call a repairman I just wanted to know if anyone has ever had this problem?

Thank you,
Sham

Check to make sure that you don't have lent blocking the air duct line-thingy. Whenever our dryer stops working, that is usually the problem. Last winter, DH had to pull a block of ice/lent out of the exhaust on the exterior of our house for the dryer to dry again, and we just had to clean the hose out again last month. I am getting much better about changing the lent trap, now. :)

Hi there,

Our dryer had never dried well from the day we bought it. We always had to run it twice to get our clothes dry. We thought it was odd, but it wasn't until it started to smell hot that we called a repairman. Turns out that our hose (I think that's what that silver scrunchy tube thing is called) was too long. The air/lint (?) wasn't able to circulate/remove itself and was causing a safety-feature to turn the heating element off and on. The repairman cut about a foot off and pulled the dryer a little further from the wall. It works perfectly now, and dries the clothes in half the time.

Just thought I'd chime in since we just had ours fixed. :)

If it's an electric dryer it is probably the element or one of the thermal switches that would kill the heat in an overheat situation.

If it's gas it could be the burner or one of the safety features of gas dryers.

I fix our electric dryer about once every two years
