Anyone watch the Oscars

Did anyone watch this?
Did we all see the anorexic looking Dolly Pardon with the wompa chest!!!!!!!!
I can't believe Crash won all these Oscars. It was an ok movie, but not one I would want to watch again and again.
I didn't see Brokeback Mt.,but war of the worlds I thought was pretty darn good.Capote, to me looks dumb.
John Stewart , I think did a good job hosting.

Too much black this year.
50% of the dresses were black. I like color.
At least they were more tasteful than in the past.

I saw a lot of it. I was ROFL during the bit that Jon Stewart did with the Western movie clips. It was priceless.

I love the fashions. Did you see Selma Hayek??? She was so beautiful, and that blue dress was drop-dead gorgeous on her!!

Yes, she had color. And she was built to wear it.I guess when all the men are in black, I like to see the ladies in something other than black.

And she was built to wear it. Nicole Kidman got very thin.
The western movie clips were hilarious.Careful not to offend anyone.
I have never heard of some of this years movies!!
I watch it more for the hairstyles and fashion.
I was amazed on how many straightned hair styes.
I think the curls and updo's are more glamerous for a night like this.

I watched some of it but I was at work so I didn't get to sit through it all.I find some of it rather boring anyway.

When Dolly was singing I was wondering how she stays looking so good! But she as always been small. She hasn;t changed since I was a little girl. And yes, Salma is gorgeous! I think Spanish women are the sexiest women in the world. How can a man not fall for the accent? I didn't see Nicole Kidman though but again, she as always been small.
Out of the actress I did see, I thought they were o.k looking. The ones I saw weren't rail thin and they actually looked better then they have in yrs.
Lori:)

I turned it on at 11:15 to watch the very end. I don't feel like I missed anything and judging from the reviews, my assessment was dead on.

Dolly Parton is absolutely miniature!! I felt bad for Jennifer Garner-how embarassing was that, almost falling!

I'm glad Crash won-I liked it. Good movies don't necessarily have to be happy movies. If they make me think I like them.

I was also glad Reese won. I haven't seen Walk yet, but I certainly will.

Capote and Brokeback I will pass on.

ETA I also thought that War of the Worlds was a really good movie, despite Tom's odd behavior lately. And J Stewart did a great job! He was really funny.

Michele, the Jon Stewart stuff was pretty funny. I think it was worth watching the first 20 minutes for that. What did the reviews you read say about him?

Nancy, here's a portion of one review pasted from my RR homepage:

NEW YORK(AP) You would have been more amused Sunday night if you'd revved up your TiVo and played back an evening's worth of "Daily Show with Jon Stewart" reruns while you tracked Oscar winners on the Web.

Stewart, usually a very funny guy, displayed a lack of beginner's luck as first-time host of "The 78th Annual Academy Awards," which ABC aired live from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.

His usually impeccable blend of puckishness and self-effacement fell flat in the service of Oscar. But he wasn't alone. The rest of the broadcast was largely bland and by-the-numbers.

I thought Jon Stewart was really funny but the audience was just not giving him any reassurance.

Jennifer Garner looked absolutely gorgeous, and her little slip on the stage was scary but she recovered well saying, "I do my own stunts". She seems like she's really down to earth.

I thought everyone's hair was nice except for Charlize Theron (and what was up w/ that dress?), and Jessica Alba (she has too big a forehead to have her hair like that). Nicole Kidman is very severe looking these days, too much botox and pale skin, and she could use 10 more lbs on her.

George Clooney and Jake Gyllenhal looked great, as always.

I really can't comment on the winners as the only movie I saw was March of the Penquins, lol. I like all the actors that won though.

DH and I loved Jon Stewart. We both agreed it was the most entertaining AW ceremony ever!

I loved what George Clooney said when accepting his award for best supporting actor.

Nicole Kidman looked like a skinny ghost, IMHO.

Jon Stewart - Terrible monologue but warmed up with some well placed one liners later on.

Best Dressed - Selma Hayek, Kiera Knightley, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba.

Hated all the boring black this year, and someone needs to tell some of these women to get a decent hairdresser! Nicole Kidman had a beautiful gown, but her hair looked terrible! Same for Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer Lopez was beautiful, but came off as "trying" too hard, IMO. Kind of like a darker version of Eva Peron...

George Clooney - best dressed of all of the guys. Keep it simple, keep it classic. Most of all, I like the way he keeps it in perspective.

JMO..;-)

Dolly Parton looks very strange to me. Why anyone would choose to get boobs that would most likely lead to back pain in beyond me.

I thought the music playing during the acceptance speeches, and the short time the recipients got to thank people (the 'lesser" awards only got 30 seconds?) was tacky. Especially since they let some presenters, like Ben Stiller, go on a bit long.

That was a gorgeous dress! I loved the cut and the color.

There were also a lot of 'bronze" colored dresses. Very pretty.

I didn't see one bad dress the whole night (though if Sally Kirkland attended, I'm sure she wore something horrible!).

>I have never heard of some of this years movies!!

I made a list of movies to add to my Netflix queue!

> But she as always been small. She hasn;t changed since
>I was a little girl.

Dolly was a bit chubby at times (circa when she did that aweful movie with Sylvester Stalone).

The music was annoying, but it got results. The intention was to try to keep the winners moving along, and the result was the show was noticably shorter this year. I would expect that trend to continue..

What was going on with Lauren Bacall? It seemed like her monitor was not working, she couldn't see it, she was having a personal issue? I felt bad for her, but she eventually got it together.

I personally thought Jon Stewart was great because he left politics out of his jokes among other things.

Don't laugh at me but aren't Dollys boobs real? Im sure she as had them perked up over the yrs but I thought that she always had big boobs? Did she get them put in before I was born??? And how old is she?
Lori:)

Lori, I thought the same thing. I think hers are the real deal. I can remember her and Porter Waggoner selling detergent with towels inside the boxes when I was little.

Bacall did have some issues, and I noticed she was walking very gingerly also, as if she was having hip problems. Great Dame, and it is soooo nice to actually see an actress who is AGING.:D
