Anyone wanna share a sample of a typical days food intake?

Well, I don't think this is what you are asking (but I was fooled by the subject). Here's what I have had so far today:

Morning:
Lean Body protein bar
low carb chai tea

Pre-Lunch (before going to the gym):
2 "Oh Yeah" protein bars

Mid-Afternoon:
2 "Oh Yeah" protein bars
small bag of Cheezits from the vending machine (OMG...I totally LOVE cheezits. I'd eat an entire HUGE family-sized box if I had one).
Diet coke

Dinner will be small (lean cuisine)

It works out to about 2400 cals.

That's pretty typical when I'm eating for fat-loss, muscle-gain. Soon I'll cut down the calories by eliminating the pre-lunch meal and only having 1 protein bar mid-afternoon.

Typical day for me:

Breakfast:
Old-fashioned oatmeal made with 1 cup of skim milk in the microwave
Black coffee
Calcium tablets, flax seed oil tablet and gingko biloba

Mid-morning: peppermint tea or decaf green tea

Lunch:
Salad: spinach, salmon, scallions, kidney beans, carrots, mushrooms with low-fat balsamic vinegrette dressing

Mid-afternoon: Luna bar and black decaf coffee

Dinner:
Salad: lettuce, red cabbage, peppers, radicchio, endive, broccoli, green beans, cucumber, chicken (all washed and cut on the weekend).
low-fat balsamic vinegrette dressing
Calcium tablets, flax seed oil tablet

After dinner: bag of Reddenbacher's low-fat popcorn
Orange, apple or melon

(On bad days, right before I go to sleep: a quart of Healthy Choice ice cream x( I do not recommend this.)

No cooking required. All meal preparation done on the weekend. I buy my lunch. I keep it simple because I don't have time for complicated!

Thanks for the ideas! CAn I ask what is the flax seed oil for? I am trying to learn as much as I can about this. Thanks!

Do you happen to know the calories in 5-6 egg whites? vs the entire egg? The yolk is where the fat and cholesterol are right? I think I could probaly eat more eggs if I hard boiled them. I could probaly do that ahead of time too.. just not eating the yolk.

That is a great idea! I just got some tofu maybe 3 weeks ago and haven't used it because I didn't know how to cook it or what to put it in, but I love pasta salad and I think that would be a great way to use it and get that protein! Thanks!

wow that is great you can lose fat eating 2400 cals a day! I love cheese it's too! If I can ask what is the low carb Chai Tea? Sounds pretty good, but I've never heard of it.

Egg whites are like 15 calories each versus the whole egg which if I remember correctly, adds another 75 or something calories. Egg whites are so delicious to me. But I add a lot of salsa to them to spice it up, and any veggie you can add will really bump up the variety factor.

Well, I used to take fish oil tabs for the Omega-3 fatty acids, but there was a discussion on this board about if you have a fishy aftertaste, it may be rancid. My tabs all had fishy aftertastes, so I switched to flax seed oil, which is a vegetable source of Omega-3 fatty acids.

I am considering switching back to fish oil again, though, because I just read that Dr. Weil said that flax seed oil tabs are not as good as eating flax seeds. Sigh. I guess I'll spring for Dr. Weil's fish oil tabs just to be sure I'm getting the right stuff. He's my guru, but his stuff is really expensive.

As for the benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids, they are essential to life and most people don't get enough from food. Just google "omega 3" if you want to start to read about all of the benefits, which are numerous.

I do research on Parkinson's Disease and our research has shown (in vitor and prelim in vivo) that oleic/linoleic/linolic acid (EFA's) upregulates dopamine in dopaminergic cells of the brain. I take 1-2 capsules everyday now. I figure it cant hurt and it may actually be good for me. Just thought I would share this. Back to work in hopes of finding that elusive cure for Parkinson's. I wish.

Shonie-
Have you read about clean eating and why it's important to health? If not, there are lots of discussions on these boards. Your body may be missing out on a lot of important nutrients.
