Anyone use KineticFlix.com (formerly Flicketyfit.com) ?

I'm trying to decide if I should sign up for this... it's like Netflix, but exclusively for fitness DVDs. The one major drawback is that they don't seem to offer a "preview" (like Collagevideo does), which is kind of scary to me... it's a bit like shooting in the dark.

I'm leaning towards trying this just to try out DVDs before I might otherwise buy them, since I'm picky, and I'm hoping to save myself some money.

Any ideas on this? Have you been a member or are you currently? Is it as solid as Netflix (customer service, etc)?

Thanks!

MC

This sounds interesting. How much per month?

I currently use Netflix to try out some DVD's before I make an investment. Between that and Collage, I can get all the information I need before I shell out $$$

Well, here is the information from their website:

----> How many DVDs can I check out at once?

That depends on your plan. We have 1, 2 or 3 out-at-a-time packages, including unlimited monthly rentals. If you sign up for the 3-DVD-at-a-time package, you can have up to three DVDs in your possession at once. Mulitple DVD packages allow you to have a DVD in transit while you still have at least one to watch!

Let's say for example, that you sign up for the three-DVD plan. If you return one DVD to us, we'll send out one movie from your KineticFlix DVD Request List (the first available title starting at the top of your list). If you send back two DVDs, then we'll send you the next two available DVDs on your Request List, and so forth.

You can always keep a DVD for as long as you like without any late fees, but if you watch a DVD and return it immediately, we'll ship out your next selection as soon as we recieve the one you return, making it possible for you to view many DVDs during a single month, all for the same price!

----> How much does it cost?

That depends on your plan. We offer monthly membership rates as follows:

* one-DVD-at-a-time for $12.99
* two-DVDs-at-a-time for $17.99
* three-DVDs-at-a-time for $20.99

You never have to pay postage or handling fees, and there are no late fees. You can cancel your membership at any time.

----> How long can I keep a DVD?

You can keep a DVD for as long as you want without late fees, or any other penalties as long as you are a member!

----> How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at anytime by visiting the Contact Us page and asking us to cancel your membership. When you return your current selection of DVDs, your account will be cancelled.

----> There are some DVDs that I'd like to see, but they're not available on your site.

We actively solicit your suggestions for titles that we can add to our library and offer to our members. On each of the pages of our site, there’s a box that’s specifically for you to “Request a Product.” If you don’t remember the exact title or performer, give us as much information as you can, including the place where you saw the item for sale, if possible. If you want, you can add your email address so that we can contact you, but that is not required. Or you can ask us to add additional titles in any category – or even a new one! We’ll get right to work trying to find the items you request.

----> What day of the month will I get billed?

Your flat monthly membership fee is automatically billed on the monthly anniversary of your first charge. For example, if your first charge was on the 17th of the month, your next charge is on the 17th of the following month.

----> Should I wait until the first of the month to sign up? If I sign up mid-month, will the first charge be prorated?

There is no need to wait. Your flat monthly membership fee is automatically billed on the monthly anniversary of your first charge. For example, if your first charge was on the 17th of the month, your next charge is on the 17th of the following month.

----> Can I pay with a check or be billed in the mail?

No. We require a valid credit card card for every KineticFlix DVD membership package, including all promotions. This is to verify account information, secure orders and to prevent fraud.

----> Are there any places you won't ship to?

At this time, we only ship rental DVDs within the United States.

Shipping to other countires, including Canada, requires full working knowledge of a host of customs and legal issues. If we have a tremendous demand for our services in other countries, we might use that to justify the expense and effort of the research and work involved.

We also do not ship to hotels or other transitory locations, unless that is the residence from which your credit card was issued.

----> How long will it take to get my DVDs?

When you have an open rental slot, we make every effort to ship your DVD as soon as inventory is available. DVDs usually arrive within 2 to 4 days, but occasionaly some movies may take longer than 4 days to arrive because of postal delays.

Orders received on Sundays and holidays are processed the following business day.

KineticFlix.com

Regarding your question about KineticFlix.com, I tried it. (I am also on Netflix.) I was on KineticFlix's $21 "three" plan. Their "queue" is similar to Netflix.

When videos did not arrive, it was impossible to contact anyone at the company. They do NOT respond to any emails. Only voicemail answers their contact phone number, and they do NOT return phone messages.

The advice regarding this company is: AVOID
(Unless you enjoy headaches and frustration.)

I tried it when they were still flicketyfit. They took way to long to get them once you send it back. I bought 1 at a time and found it took about a week or so to get another one. It is nice to be able to try different instructors and workouts though. It keeps this fresh and not boring, always doing the same workouts. If you have patience I say go ahead and try it. You can always send a letter in to cancel or call.

I tried them when they were flicketyfit and kineticflix. I read the original owner had some personal problems so sold the name. Most of the DVDs I received from flicketyfit came broke, badly scratched or didn't arrive at all.

I tried them again as kineticflix. I emailed them first to just ask if the past issues have been resolved and just to see if they answer emails, they did answer that one and I joined for a month. They are a little better, sending the DVDs in clam shell cases so they don't arrive broke. Most of the DVDs still had scratches to the point they weren't playable. One I didn't receive, when I tried emailing them about getting a replacement sent sooner they didn't respond to the emails. I agree with the above poster, it was impossible to contact anyone after I became a member. :(

They are pretty expensive, and depending where you live turnaround is so slow. They don't have the options like netflix to report you sent the DVD back or didn't receive it or it arrive damaged so you can get the next one in your queue.
