Anyone up for a friendly bet?

I send the kids upstairs when that show comes on. I totally love it...that and CSI Las Vegas. I had not thought about Brie's husband being gay, but I bet you're right. DH says the show is nothing but porn, but he sure is glued to it with me. LOL Maybe that's why he's watching it so closely.

The Dark Tower isn't SUPPOSED to be scary, silly. You just have to look at it as a totally different genre for SK. I've read the series 3, maybe 4, times and have listened to it on audio CD.
My favorite of his scarier books is The Shining. My husband is reading that one for the first time now. I also really liked Bag of Bones, which wasn't really scary - but it was a nice love story.
The Stand is strongly intertwined with the Dark Tower. So is Insomnia, which I'm rereading right now.

LOL! I didn't realize they weren't horror at first. I tried them but I've never really gotten into the fantasy genre. I thought b/c it was SK I might enjoy them, & they were OK but really I'm a big horror fan.
The Shining was awesome, & so was the movie. Carrie is another one of my favorites. Also Night Shift. Dreamcatcher was another good one--I mean, at this point you can read the first 20 pages of his book & know how it's gonna end, but I was still scared to death after reading the first 150 pages. Even after all his books the guy can still scare the crap out of me.
Maybe I'll have to go back to the Dark Tower books since there are references to his others.........

Stephen King almost made me break my nose once. When I was in college, I was reading The Tommyknockers in bed. After reading a particularly scary chapter, I decided it was time to go to sleep. I didn't have a lamp next to my bed, so I had to get out of bed and cross the room to turn off the light switch. About halfway across the room on my way bed (in the dark), I started thinking there might be Tommyknockers under my bed, so I jumped from a couple feet away from my bed TO my bed, but overestimated the distance and smashed my face into the wall.
I like the Dark Tower because it's like a mixture of three of my favorite stories: Lord of the Rings, King Arthur and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
I know what you mean about knowing how the stories will end, especially if you're an SK addict, because you know the way he thinks. Sometimes I can even figure out what someone will say before I read it. It's almost like having another husband (God forbid!)
