anyone try dermaplaning?

I was in for a facial and vibraderm this week and my gal told me they were going to begin offering dermaplaning. Has anyone tried it? [It's shaving the face for exfoliation with a very sharp tool] I was worried about the hair [upper lip mostly] growning in darker or more prickly. I tried to search negative side effects on the web but couldn't find any. She said it leaves the skin beautiful.

PS This is a plastic surgeon and dermatologists combined office not a store front so I am sure they are skilled and hygenic.
 
The reason people say hair grows back thicker is because it might appear that way: when you shave, you cut a hair in half, so when it grows out again, the thicker center of the hair is what comes up first, not the tapered end of a new hair (like one that has been plucked).
 
Yes, I realized that was the case. Just wondering if there was a good reason NOT to try it. HMMM, if I try it I'll let everyone know what my opinion is. I'm not sure if i want to go that route.....
 
The plastic surgeon/dermatologist offices I've been going to offer it. I've been having it done for in excess of 20 years and my hair has never grown back in darker and thicker. I love it, love it my face feels as smooth as a baby's bottom. I'm now 50, going through menopause and when I see these poor ladies going through menopause with black mustaches I want to let them know they don't have to look like that. I'd much rather have dermaplaning than waxing. It's not irritating like waxing can be and since I also use Retin A it's the better alternative.....and did I mention I love it, love it....leigh:)
 
Hey, thanks Leigh! I have heard that it is great. I didn't know it was around for so long. After hearing your experience I think I'll try it. How often to you have it done?
