Anyone tried Baron Baptiste?

Maximus

I'm gonna take everyone's advice & start doing yoga, at least once a week, to try & loosen up my muscles a little. I have a GF who's totally into yoga & she recommended Baron to start out with. I've ordered his beginner tape. Anyone else tried him? Opinions?

I'm also gonna try a class at my gym. I was really surprised to find how many different kinds of yoga there are. As soon as I have a free night I'm taking a vinyasa class, hoping to eventually work my way up to ashtanga.

I have a Baron Baptiste video, I like it alot. It's his Power Yoga level 2. His voice can get a bit monotonous but the Yoga is good. I also got another one referred to me, Bryan Kest's Power yoga. It has 3 workouts on the DVD and was not very expensive. I think Yoga is very beneficial to most of us that workout so much. Has really helped my flexibility, and as a runner that helps alot!

I have been invited to a class at a Gym but haven't gone yet...:)...not much of a Gym person like you are Maximus. Have fun!!...:)...Carole

Brian Kest is very nice to look at too;-) . I have done Baron's workouts a few times, but prefer Brian Kest. I really like taking a Bikram(sp?)yoga class once in a while too. I feel amazing when I am finished.

Too funny Carole! I am not a huge yoga fan, but I can always tolerate doing one of his workouts. It's probably because I am so focused on him, the time just flies right by:* .

Bryan Kest's accent makes me think I'm practicing with "Ahnold". I have to give him another chance. Baron Baptiste on the other hand is like a friend. I loveeeeeee Baron Baptiste. I started with him years ago with Power Yoga Level 1, then I got the Level 2 and I was stuck with that one for awhile (It is about 70 minutes long and it's hard). Then I bought Soul of Strength from his "live" series and that one I absolutely love. You feel like a part of the class. The only thing I do is I turn off the a/c and I make sure that the room I'm practicing in is hot enough. True Bikram yoga is practiced in rooms that are heated to over 100ºF. I try to simulate that at home.

I have a feeling chosing between Bryan & Baron is like "Ginger or Maryann?"

I have Baron's Power Yoga level 1, & think it's ok. I don't get the eye candy description, in this video, he should be wearing a shirt. He's also touching a couple of the women demonstrators a lot. These are just little annoyances that keep me from using the video very frequently.

Suzanne Deason's "Yoga for Weight Loss" was my favorite when I started yoga. Check out the Body Wisdom series too, great instruction.

I second Carole's opinion as far as Baron Baptiste is concerned. His workouts are very good, but sometimes his voice almost makes me want to giggle. I've never tried Brian Kest. Are you looking for a power yoga type of workout or a more relaxing one?

I like Baron, I like Bryan Kest more ( he is better eye candy in my opinion). you will find that your yoga workouts really supliment your Cathe workouts well.

>I have a feeling chosing between Bryan & Baron is like
>"Ginger or Maryann?"

LOL I agree. Go to collagevideo.com and check out their previews so you can make your own decision.

Thanks everyone for the input. I have another question--how many times a week do you do yoga? I'm already working out about 12 hours a week & I'm just not sure how much more I can fit in.

When I first did Yoga it was with a P90X rotation. I did it once a week and that felt good to me...:)...Carole

I usually go take the class (Bikram) on Sundays w/my sister. I haven't gone in a few weeks & really should make an effort to go. Yes, it gets very hot in the studio. I feel gross in there, but feel so refreshed after class.

I vote Brian Kest, too. All three of his Power Yoga W/O are challenging. He is nice to look at, but all the people in his class are beautiful too.

I LOVE Bryan Kest - very nice on the eyes! Baron Baptiste is somewhat cheesy - - - for me anyways, but his workouts are good and that is what counts! I am envious of those who have access to the Hot Boxes for Bikram Yoga. The closest one to me is one hour away. I live in Lincoln, NE and lets say there is not much for yoga classes around here. Welcome to the heart of football and traditional training styles! LOL - I have spoken to the owner of the studio in Omaha that has the Hot Box for bikram yoga and one of these days I am going to drive down for a class - it sounds right up my alley!:D
