Anyone still doing push ups?

Are you still doing push ups or have you given up? I was proud of myself b/c I was able to do 12 real push ups on my toes. Now I know that isn't a lot but for me it was an accomplishment. But I am terrified that I'm going to fall and land on my belly. Even if I do them with bent knees I still think the same thing. Plus with my expanding belly (and I do believe that I have "popped") it is starting to touch the floor when I do them. Right now I"m only doing presses & flyes for chest work. I still have 6 months to go and I wonder if I'll be able to do any real push ups after I have the baby.

I was not able to do a "real" push up (on toes) pre-pregnancy so that was not an issue for me. I continue to do them on my knees but lately I have been doing them on an incline as well using the blue section of my fanny lifter...

Dana, my belly is starting to graze the floor when I do push ups, too. I was wondering whether I should just stop doing them altogether, or modify somehow (I'm already doing them with bent knees). I have no answer or suggestion for you; just wanted to let you know that you aren't the only one experiencing this.

Doing "decline" push ups with your feet on the step, as Cathe does in a couple of her videos, would give more belly-room, but I'm not sure such an advanced move would be advisable for the pregnant exerciser?

Cheers,
Sandra

If your belly gets too big to do even bent knee pushups, which is all I can do. You can always modify to wall pushups. BTW great job on being able to due straight leg pushups. I've never had the upper body strength to do them no matter how much I try.

I could do at least 12 pre pregnancy, but since about 8 weeks when I was able to start exercising agian I quit on the toes and went to the knees. The reason I did that was because my abs have been straining and sore at times. No joke a couple of times I've sneezed it really hurt. And pushups for me use to much abdominal muscles for it not to put pressure on those muscles. I'm wondering if I'm having this cause it's my second pregnancy. I actually cut out all ab workouts too because of this. Since now I'm entering trimester 2 YEAH, I'll start back on ab work. Anyway that's my long answer. :)
