RE: Anyone Here Interested in Starting a Yoga Checkin w...
Megadoo - I'm wondering if I should still babble about yoga on our Hardcore Checkin also.....cuz I really do think it is beneficial to incorporate and if I quit babbling on our regular check in.....you ladies may all get too stiff.
Yvanna - Kundalini Yoga is a little strange and not everyone likes it. I'm mainly starting to practice it again to help some minor health problems I've been having. It works more on the glands and is therefore even more beneficial to the internal organs. Kundalini taps into all of the Chakras in your body - which are essentially energy centers located from the base of the spine to the top of the head .....I believe the Chakra center that is at the top of the head is the one in which your "aura" radiates from. It is believed that when one or more of your chakras are blocked, you can suffer from illness and disease. If you're really interested, a good book is called the Eight Human Talents by Gurumukh. Very interesting stuff. I started practicing it about 10 years ago....but then it fell by the wayside...cuz it's not a particularly strenuous type of yoga...and I didn't have time to do it. I mainly try to find time in the evenings to add it in and I'm going to start adding a bit on the weekends also. I just bought a bunch of stuff off of Raviana.com. There is quite a bit of discussion at Videofitness.com and there are reviews on Amazon.com of the Raviana DVDs. Breath of fire is also used in Kundalini yoga which is like a rapid deep breathing.....this oxygenates the blood quicker makes the poses more effective. I find it to make me feel better also.
Regarding the checkin.......I'm still trying to figure out how we should do this? Should we do it daily and if we don't do yoga that day, just report our weights/cardio workouts, etc and chit chat? I think this would be best since we will all be doing the yoga on different days of the week.
Thoughts??
