I have the PaceMaster Gold Elite Treadill. I have had it for about 2 months and I absolutely love it. It has an all steel frame, built-in HRM, programs, etc., etc. It is very solid and can keep track of up to 4 users.
I have a PaceMaster and have had it for about 4 years or so...I haven't had any problems with it. I tried out a few other brands including True and decided on the one that I purchased. It is very solid and I love it!! I don't know the exact model, but I'm sure I don't have the Gold Elite...I think mine may be a step down from that one.
We have True treadmills in our fitness center, and they hold up really well under a LOT of use. Someone is on them 14 hours a day, five days a week.
Just Do It!
I have a Pace Master Pro Select, have had it about 4 years. It's been great. The only time I had a problem with it was when I moved this summer, the computer board broke and had to be replaced (I think the movers had the cover off and mess it up!!!!}( ) but it was under warranty still so it wasn't a huge deal. I think it's been one of my better investments. Good luck!
We have a True at home and it gets used daily by DH and sometimes kids too. I use it periodically too! It has been fine since 1999. One ofthe wheels just broke last night, but the wheels are only necessary if it is going yo be moved. We don't move it.
I have a TRUE and have had it for 2 years, it has been GREAT. No problems at all with it and I use it every other day. I can't remember the model but it was about $2K. Good luck-
Angie
I have a pacemaster gold elite, the treadmill is awsome i do love it. the first one i got however broke so i had to get it replaced but its been great ever since
I'm so glad to find people here who are using these. Thanks for your replies.
I have selected these two brands since they both claim to be very quiet when running. Now, I've tried out a True (the top model 540) and it seemed quiet in the store...but I want to know from real in-home users how quiet are these two brands?
I'm tired of having to listen to my treadmill whirl and rasp while I'm using it. Plus, if I want to watch T.V. I have to have the volume up so dang loud and that's distracting to the rest of the household.
I have a True. It has to be at least 4 years old. We (dh and I) burned out the motor. In fact, the guy who came out to fix it said he never saw so many miles on a home treadmill. I wish I could remember how many miles it was. All the parts were under warranty, so we were only charged labor. Ever since, I feel like it's just not the same. It's probably only in my mind - I don't know. I went to the gym recently. Running on their treadmill seemed so much easier.
I don't think I'm helping? ;-) I still have to turn the TV up pretty loudly. That may because of the positioning of the treadmill and the speakers in our ceiling.
Keep us posted on your purchase and how you like it once you get it.
Hoping some of you will comment on how loud or how quiet you think your treadmill is. I'm leaning towards the PaceMaster Gold since it is $1k cheaper than the True 540.
I don't think that my PaceMaster is very loud at all...I think that the only time I hear it is when my DH runs on it and that's only because he runs really hard. It purrs like a kitten...
So excited...today we're making the 2 hour trek to the city to look at treadmills...and hopefully buy one! The store we're going to carries both Pace Master and True so I'll be able to compare them side by side. Have running shoes in the car.
Okay, bought the Pace Master Platinum today. Can't wait for it to get here!!! Went with the Platinum over the Gold because there was only $100 difference in price and for those $$$ you get a few more preprogramed workouts that appealed to me.
One thing that surprised me is the True's are not programable??? Even the top line machine was not customizable. That really surprised me and the two things I wanted in a new treadmill were quietness and the ability to put my own program in it.
So anyway...also tried out a couple home gyms while we were there too. Next wish list item!
It will be wonderful to have a treadmill with a working incline again! Our current one is ten years old and on it's last leg.
