Anyone have a body bar?

If you have a body bar, can you please let me know what weight it is and if you are happy with that weight. I went to buy some bars of various weights, but those suckers are expensive, therefore I may only buy 1 or 2.

I was going to get 12 to 18lbs, but am not sure I really need the lighter one.

I will mainly use it for HC and cathe videos. I've always modified with dumbbells or a barbell, but was thinking of going ahead and getting the body bar. do you use yours enough to justify the purchase?

thanks.

I LOVE my body bars! I started out with a 15 lb one when I first started lifting weights years ago. As I got stronger, I bought the 18 and 24 lb ones. Now I also own a barbell, which I use for heavy weights. I still use my body bars for lower weight work. The body bars keep me from continuously having to change the weight on my barbell. I only change it if I want to go up in weight.

I have a 12,15 & 18 lb. body bar. I use them for lighter w/o's like Les Mills Pump. I also have a barbell for heavier work. I love the bars. I like that they are balanced and not just heavy at the ends. They really are convenient. Shop around online. I remember there were big differences in price and I ended up not buying them on amazon because I found better deals and free shipping. Sorry cannot remember where as it was a while ago.

Hi,

I have a 15 pound body bar and love it. I wish I had another one, but like you said, they are expensive. I used it for Les Mills Body Pump, and all kinds of Cathe workouts for warm ups etc. I never thought to look on Amazon...

Hi Gobias! This is the one I got on WalMart.com.
Cap Barbell Workout Bar - Walmart.com
I got the 8 lb bar...which of course is sort of light. I kind of wish I had gotten a 10 or 12 lb one but I doubt I'll buy another one anytime soon. I really only use it for HC and the 8 lb one works just fine. Sometimes, for some of the moves, I wouldn't want anything heavier than that .

I have the 18 lb body bar and have used it a ton over the years. If I need more weight, I put my 1 lb wrists weights on the ends (the kind that are like bracelets filled with sand). I have about 8 or 10 of them, so I can increase it nicely. Looks dorky, but who cares.

Thanks for all of the replies and links. I am going to go ahead and get one. I am thinking to start with either a 15lb or 18lb. In fact I went to do HC Getting Stronger today and saw she used a Body Bar, so couldn't do the workout. I probably could have used dumbbells in place of a few of the moves, but just did a different workout.

Anyone know what weight she uses in the video? I am thinking I will mainly use this for lower body workout, although I love the idea of adding tiny weights to the bar for possibly upper body work. Brilliant and easy!

forgive me, but what is a body bar?

A body bar is like a heavy weight bar with all the weight evenly distributed throughout it. One would not think that it is any different but it really is. I personally, have not gotten one yet, which is why I am reading this thread to see if I want to get one.
