Anyone else with POF/Premature menopause?

I was diagnosed when I was 34 years old. I have been on/off HRT and more recently off HRT for over a year because I was tired of all the side effects and issues concerning hormones. For the past year I have had mild/moderate hot flashes and night sweats and just accepted it, however a month ago the hot flashes stopped completely out of the blue and I'm always cold now, tired, feeling crappy (which is also a side effect of working nights) and, the kicker...I've gained 3-4 lbs after losing a lot of weight and maintaining my weight for over 8 months. This is NOT ok with me. I have worked wayyyyy to hard and I'm never going back to where I was.

I don't know if I'm suddenly ovulating (I have not had a real period in over 3 years) having a major hormone shift or what because in the past few days I'm having cramping and bloating, etc. I'm hungry too and trying not to eat beyond my 1700 cals but I have eaten up to 2000 cals a few days. I certainly have not eaten over by 15,000 cals so I know most of it is hormone/water related. I am trying not to panic or freak out but it's hard. I am regularly exercising as before this all started.

Just wondering if anyone else has been through this and has experienced some reversal or change after being diagnosed? I should add that I got a bunch of test done last weel and my thyroid T3, testosterone, progesterone and vit D and Iron are all low. I want to take it slow and start taking these supplements and medications separately but my doc wants me to start taking them all at once...and I don't feel comfortable with that. I've done a lot of reading and research, which actually leaves me more confused.

Any advice/experience would be helpful. Also I was diagnosed for unknown reasons--not surgically or medication induced.

Thanks,
Sandra

You should start on the Thyroid and Progesterone immediately. If you ignore the Thyroid, you could end up with a really low heart rate and heart issues. I would refuse synthroid and ask for Armour. Progesterone helps with cramping and sore breast.

D3 is so important for your bones and testosterone will help with weight loss and tiredness.

Ask for bio-identical hormones only.

Thanks so much

Thanks for the reassurance. Yes, the NP/MD team I go to practice homeopathic/natropathic medicine and they put me on Armour thyroid, which I started taking two days ago. They put me on bio-identical hormones but my concern is that they put them all together in one cream (DHEA, progesterone and testosterone). What if I have to change the dose of one of them? Then I have to get a new Rx and waste the rest of that when the other doses are ok? I had to wait for the compound pharmacy to make it so I'm picking it up today. I'm probably way over thinking things. I'm feeling much better about it and will give it a try for a month though and see how I feel. I will try not to panic if my weight fluctuates a bit. If I can start to feel better then it will be worth it.
Thanks again,
Sandra
