Anyone else have a reaction to steroid injections?

Cathlete
I have had neck/shoulder, back, hip issues that I've been dealing with for way too long. In the past few months, I also developed problems in my left elbow and have lost ability to do certain tasks. Yesterday I was at a rheumatologist and she gave me a steroid injection in the elbow and shoulder. As the day progressed, I began to feel lethargic and just out of it like I'm drugged. I have a VERY sensitive system so this certainly isn't shocking to me but I wondered if anyone else experienced something similar. My entire body seems to be going downward even with ALL that I do to help it. There's very little exercising I can do which is very discouraging. With the feeling I'm having from the injection, all I feel like doing is nothing which is not helping. My mind is going in not so good directions. It just seems the more I do, the worse I get and believe me, I do a lot! Sorry, I didn't mean to rant. I really did want to know if anyone has had a similar reaction. Thanks.

lA cortisone shot is a very big gun. The last time I had it I was also very lethargic, and it raised my blood sugar to 300. I will only have it again if I really must.

Thanks for responding! I was reading about how it can raise blood sugar. How long did your lethargy and increase in blood sugar last? I am feeling so out of it and weak. The only positive thing is that I don't have much of an appetite. The dose my doc used wasn't very large. I can't even imagine if she used anything more than what she did. Today is such a beautiful day and I have no desire to be out in it. I hope this fades quickly.

Moving is the key. After I checked my sugar and it was so high I spent an hour on the stairmaster, had a shake with lots of cinnamon in it, then and felt fine. I'm not diabetic, but have a very strong family history. As soon as the sugar dropped I felt fine.
The lethargy was similar to the feeling of eating too much carbs --high sugar. Try moving as much as you can, eat more protein and you'll feel better. Good luck!

Thanks again! I'm glad your symptoms didn't last very long and you knew what to do to get rid of them. I'm feeling a little bit better today but still tired and foggy. I may force myself to go out later as again, it is a beautiful day. I appreciate your response.
