Anybody ever get their moles checked?

I have an appointment tomorrow to have my moles checked. I've always had alot of them and none of them have changed or anything, but I felt like I should see a dermatologist as a preventative. Now I'm feeling nervous. I was wondering if anyone has gone and had to have a biopsy of a mole and if so, do they do it right then and there? I hate knives and needles . . . I'm probably just getting worked up over nothing, but just curious about what all happens.

I have TONS of moles and go to the dermatologist twice a year to have them checked. She will only biopsy ones that she thinks look abnormal. It is a quick procedure done at the time of the exam, the only discomfort is the slight sting of the local anesthetic. It's good that you are going and I'll bet you won't have any troubles!

I have a standing appt with my dermatologist yearly, mainly for mole checks. I have had a couple removed. My daughter (who is now 13) has had 1 suspicious mole removed. It is really quite simple, but the waiting for the results can be a bit nerve-wracking. Depending on the mole, it can be done in the office at the time of the appt. For my DD, since it was on her face, they did it in plastic surgery, but come to think of it, it was at the same appt. I wouldn't worry about it!
