Any suggestions on how to make it through Imax 3

I am new to your tapes.
By the way love them ,I am an old firmie.
I think I blew 600 bucks in 2 months.
I should have just boght them all, but didn't know if I was going to like them.
Variety keeps me moving.
I cannot make it through Imax 3.
I am really discousted with myself.
When I do that tape. I feel like a beginner.
I feel like I am a 70 year old instead of 40.
I have no problem with the weight tapes. Almost keep up with you.
Static lunges make my legs really quiver.
Low max is awesome. Got the moves down.
Will low max give me the same benefits as Imax 3 and hardcore extreme?
Am I really not in good enogh shape, or does this tape just take more stamina.
Any modification suggestions.
I JUST WANT TO DO THE WHOLE THING.
And your message board is great.
I always hated the firms.
I really wish they had a gym like yours in my area.( Pictures are incredible) Closest is a ymca.
(Balleys is an hour away, too far.)
It is ok. Classes were not good.
Discousted.

Anne, I'm not Cathe, but I just wanted to say - don't be so discouraged! IMAX3 is one of Cathe's most challenging cardio workouts! You have to work up to doing the whole thing, most people can't just jump right in and do the whole thing the first time (without dying!). You may need to try doing it on a lower step height. When I first started doing IMAX3, I actually did it several times with no step at all - it helped me get the footwork down on the step combos, and made the blasts a little less intense (but not much!). Also, I didn't try to do the entire workout straight through. You could try doing just the first 5 intervals, or just the last 5. Then finish out your workout with something a little less intense. Eventually you'll be able to do the whole thing, but it takes time to build up the required cardio capacity. LowMax is a great way to help build up your stamina, since it's a little less intense than IMAX3. Just keep at it, it will get better! :)

Not Cathe, but I modify IMAX3 a lot (no jumps off the step onto the floor, and that "jump the length of the step" move is quite transformed in my version!).

Modify, modify, modify!

YOu can also do just part of the workout to begin with, then go to the cooldown. I personally prefer to modify.

Do the moves you can, and if you feel yourself becoming too winded (you should get a little out of breath during the intervals, but not to the point where you are gasping for breath and can't go on), modify the move by taking it down a level. You can modify by doing a smaller range of motion (my "tuck jumps" usually have no tuck!); doing the move more slowly (like on the "jacks on and off the step" segment, when you get to the three-count "on-off-on, off-on-off" move, keep going with the other move); stepping instead of jumping some moves (I do all the "jump down from the step" moves as "walk off the step" moves, more for knee safety than any other reason; or by making up a move to replace one that is just too tough (or that you just don't like)--as I said, I do this with the "jump the length of the step" move.

Don't be disgusted with yourself! If the workout were easy to get through, it wouldn't be much of a challenge. Instead of looking at what you CAN'T do, and being discouraged, look instead to the progress you make each time (and you will, if you keep at it!). What Cathe and the crew are doing is what you want to aim for, not what most people can do right out of the box with no problem.

IMAX3 is one of the most challenging of Cathe's workouts, so you're judging yourself by something that's very tough.

There are a lot of people who wouldn't even attempt IMAX3, so even making the effort to do so is a step in the right direction.

Keep at it!

And if there are specific moves you want suggestions for modifications for, please ask the question in the "video questions" forum, where other Catheites and I can go on at length (as if I haven't already!) without taking up too much space in the "Ask Cathe' forum!

Hi. How about if you just do the step premix without any of the interval burst. I actually enjoy it like that a lot.

Try it. Then, as you get stronger, you can start attempting the 1-5 interval and 5-10 interval premixes.

I, too, modify alot. ;-)

Enjoy it and don't be disgusted with yourself. :D

BTW, just wanted to let you know that I did Imax 3 last night and was thinking about you while I did it.

I have a rebounder and use it whenever the jumps get too high impact and I want to jump. If I don't want to jump, I just do the same move without the jumping.

The time just flew. It was a nice workout. I burned 500 calories and I did not do it as high impact as it originally is.

I enjoyed it. Try it. Keep doing it. You'll get it.;)

I only have Imax2. When I do it, I drink water after almost every interval. Also, I have to make sure I am breathing correctly. I think I scare myself before I start about how hard it will be and hold my breath,if this makes sense. So I have to think about breathing in and out for the first interval to get into a rythm.
