I can't be the only one who works out in my apartment; my problem is, with the new tapes (I tried to do boot camp last night) there is so much impact that i feel my neighbors below me are going to want to strangle me!! I guess if someone were working out above me it would be irritating.
Help!! i don't want to give up my new cathe workouts, and i love/need the high impact. I 've even tried to use an additional carpet for padding but the building must not be very solidly made, b/c the lady who lives below me told me she can hear me working out, and i feel so guilty. she did tell me not to worry about it, but I don't like bothering others. maybe i will have to move to the bottom floor? . . . :-(

Hi Lynnesq2:

I too live in an apartment-style building. It's a highrise so it's pretty solidly built. I haven't had any complaints (yet!)

Why don't you talk to your downstairs neighbor. You could tell her that you need to work out (x times per week) and that you hope she doesn't mind. If you're flexible about your time, you can say, would you prefer I work out at 6 or 7 (am or pm). Also, maybe if she's in her living room at a certain time, you can work out in your bedroom (so that you're not directly above her).

I've found that people don't mind the noise if they know what you're doing and for how long you'll be doing it.

A yoga mat can help muffle the sound too.
