Any new finds on a good concealer for dark circles?

I'm going to need to be buying a new cover up pretty soon and I was wondering if anyone has found one that really works well. I have VERY dark circles so I need a heavy duty one. :( I'm currently using erase paste and it works pretty well but I'm willing to try something else that may be better especially since it costs $26.00. I know when you have circles as dark as mine, there's only a point to which it can be covered but I want to find the best results I can since they really add about 5 years to one's age. Hmmmmm, maybe I shouldn't worry about that yet since I'm only 21! ;)

Thanks for any suggestions!

Have you tried any products by Benefit Cosmetics? They have various camouflaging and concealing products, with names like Erase Paste, Boi-ing, Eye Bright, Lemon Aid, and more. I might be worth a trip to a Benefit counter in your local dept. store to see if any of these help you. I love their products and have found a combination that works for me, I can make my tired face look perky in about five minutes of make-up now!

Thanks, Bobbi. I'm going to the mall tomorrow and will check it out. I'm guessing their prices may be about the same as the erase paste as I'd like to find something a little less pricey but perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised. :)

Thanks again!

You're welcome! Yeah, I think Benefit products run around $20 per item. Spendy to me, definitely one of my indulgences! Good luck.

Why not use a regular undereye cream in addition to your concealer?

Try Dark Shadows from Philosophy. It's an expensive little tube (about $20), but it lasts for eons and actually works to reduce the circles to begin with.

Then use your concealer on top of that.

Hi,

I just wanted to suggest trying Sephora.com, they do carry Benetint products and many other lines of makeup as well. I would lean towards benetint though, they do have excellent concealers to choose from. One suggestion for super dark circles would be to try a pale lavender or pink type concealer it covers really great for super dark circles. The really white stuff only makes it look worse in my opinion. The trick to covering dark circles is to neutralize the discoloration.

Happy concealing,

Nora

So happy to see this question posted about concealer. :D

I, too, have bad under-eye circles. Still trying to find that *magic* concealer that covers them beautifully. I'm definitely going to check out some of those suggestions. Thanks!!

Erase paste and Amazing Concealer from Sephora. Both heavy duty easy to blend concealers.

Ooh yes, I forgot about Amazing Concealer, I tried it on in Sephora once, it truly was amazing, but I didn't buy it because it was $42. But it was better than anything I have by Benefit, and I might switch when I run out of what I'm using now.

Thanks everyone for your great suggestions. I went into Sephora yesterday with my list in hand of what you recommended. I didn't have a lot of time (plus I was tired) so I kind of wanted in and out. I ended up purchasing Laura Mercier Secret Concealer. I walked around the mall with it on to see how it would wear. It seemed to be o.k. I did get a little creasing but it was less than the Erase Paste. It cost $22.00 and I will give it a fair shot. If I don't like it, Sephora will take it back and I can try some of your other great ideas.

You guys just rock! Thanks again!

Camouflage Cream

I use Prescriptives Camouflage Cream. It has good coverage without looking cakey. Since they stopped selling in my local dept stores, I have to get it from their website - prescriptives.com. The cost is $20.00.

On me dark circles mean that I have a food allergy, mine is dairy products. Have you tried an elimination diet to find out if you have a food sensitivity? Does your nose run?

I totally agree that food allergies/sensitivities can contribute to dark circles. I have gone on various food elimination programs in the past for other reasons but my circles didn't change. Very interestingly, sometimes when I eat a lot of junkie foods including wheat and dairy, the next day, my circles are lighter. Hmpf, go figure! I wish my system would figure itself out and I wish it would decide that it likes to include the yummy junk foods on a regular basis but, ah, I digress. :D

Some more info on Amazing concealer from Sephora. You don't need to spend 46 dollars on a tube. You can buy a smaller tube which is still very generous for 20 something dollars. Unlike other concealers, a little goes a long way and it lasts a long time and so you may actually ve spending less money on concealers over time.
